Akshay Kumar starrer 'OMG 2's' original uncut version to premiere on OTT; reveals director Amit Rai

'OMG 2,' featuring the stellar trio of Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam, is currently basking in the glow of box office success. The film's triumphant journey comes as a well-deserved victory for the team, who encountered numerous struggles faced during the process of obtaining approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Diving into the nuanced realm of sex education's incorporation into school curricula, 'OMG 2' boldly addresses a subject that society often labels taboo. Its exploration of themes touching on religion and spirituality, however, brought it face-to-face with the challenges of securing a censor certificate. 

Director Amit Rai in a recent interview disclosed the heartbreaking moment when the film's creators realized their vision might not reach the broad audience they intended. He then disclosed their intention to present the unedited rendition of the movie when it makes its debut on an OTT platform. 

Quoting to PTI he said, 

"We have opted to showcase the authentic version of the film (on streaming), a rendition that the censor board initially sought to withhold from the public eye, yet... The audience has already experienced the film and delivered their judgment. If the censor board fails to grasp its essence, what more can we convey?"

Despite their relentless efforts, the CBFC held its ground, resulting in the film's release with modifications. Amit Rai also expressed his joy over the positive response, emphasizing the film's authentic intent to engage, rather than titillate, its viewers. 

The film's trajectory took an unexpected turn as it triumphantly crossed the impressive milestone of Rs 100 crore at the box office.
