Akshay Kumar says 'Mujhe nikal diya tha' for absence in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, 3; shares update on Hera Pheri 3

Akshay Kumar recently opened up about his absence from the sequels of the popular Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. During a fan interaction hosted by Pinkvilla, a fan revealed he skipped watching Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3 because Akshay wasn’t part of them. Responding candidly, Akshay said, “Beta, mujhe nikaal diya tha” (I was removed).

The Bhool Bhulaiyaa series began in 2007 with a psychological horror drama that featured Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan in iconic roles. However, the sequels took a different turn, adopting a horror-comedy approach. Kartik Aaryan, who stepped into Akshay’s shoes as the franchise’s lead in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3, acknowledged Akshay's legacy, stating in a past interview that he has been a lifelong fan of the veteran actor. Despite the change in tone and cast, both films were major box office successes.

While Akshay Kumar wasn’t part of the sequels, he remains a fan favorite for his role as Dr. Aditya Shrivastav in the original film, which also featured Vidya Balan’s unforgettable portrayal of Manjulika. Vidya returned for the third installment, alongside new cast members like Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri, while Kartik reprised his role as Rooh Baba.

Akshay also shared exciting news about the much-anticipated Hera Pheri 3. He expressed his enthusiasm for starting the project, hinting that filming might begin later this year if all goes as planned.

In the same interaction, Akshay Kumar shifted focus to his upcoming film Sky Force, a high-octane action drama set to release on January 24, 2025. He has been promoting the film with Veer Pahariya, and fans are eagerly awaiting this new project, which promises intense action and gripping storytelling.
