Ajay Devgn returns as fearless officer in Raid 3; Rajkumar Gupta promises bigger action and drama

Ajay Devgn is set to join forces once again with director Rajkumar Gupta for the third installment of the popular Raid franchise. After the success of the 2018 original and its sequel, Raid 3 is expected to go on floors by the end of 2026.

Sources close to the project told Pinkvilla that the team has been quietly working on the script for several months. “The conflict in the third part is bigger than the earlier two films. The stakes are much higher, and the raid itself will be designed on a larger scale. Ajay Devgn’s character will face a situation unlike anything seen in the franchise so far,” a source said.

Pre-production is scheduled to begin in mid-2026, once Devgn completes his current commitments. Gupta is reportedly closely involved in developing the screenplay to maintain the realistic tone that the franchise is known for. The upcoming film will see Devgn reprise his role as a determined and sharp income tax officer, this time confronting even more complex challenges.

While the makers are keeping details under wraps, they have indicated that Raid 3 will expand both in scope and emotional depth. The series, recognised for its gripping storytelling and high-impact sequences, is set to explore more layered narratives and elaborate action scenarios in the upcoming chapter.

Looking back, Raid 2 performed well at the box office. The film opened with a strong Rs 19 crore and earned Rs 49.25 crore net in its first three days at the Indian box office. Its theatrical run concluded with a global collection of Rs 219 crore. The sequel continued the franchise’s reputation for intense crime drama and engaging storytelling, setting high expectations for the third film.
