The initial response looked encouraging enough for the trade but the real picture cleared up only once the weekday numbers rolled in.

The sequel arrived with a familiar mix of curiosity and quiet pressure. Viewers remembered how the earlier chapter found its audience over time, so the new film walked in with both goodwill and caution wrapped together.
The initial response looked encouraging enough for the trade but the real picture cleared up only once the weekday numbers rolled in.
Weekend Behaviour And What It Signalled
The earlier film had shown how steady growth across its opening days could shape an entire run. Friday to Saturday had jumped nicely in 2019 and Sunday had pushed it even higher. The Monday number of 6.19 crore back then became a reminder of how strong word of mouth can hold a film in place.
The new film tried to mirror that pattern but the pace turned out to be gentler. It reached 8.75 crore on Friday, climbed to 12.25 crore on Saturday and moved to 13.75 crore on Sunday. The 34.75 crore total for the first three days read fine on its own but still landed just under what the earlier film had collected without any special previews. That placed more weight on the weekday test and especially on the Monday figure.
The Monday Drop And What It Tells Us
The sequel brought in 4.25 crore on Monday. The gap with the earlier Monday number of 6.19 crore may not be alarming on paper but it highlights the softer pull this time. The year has seen a mix of outcomes for follow up films. War 2 and Son of Sardaar 2 did not create the expected noise while Raid 2 and Housefull 5 filled theatres with ease. In this kind of landscape every Monday matters.
This film came with a larger cast featuring R Madhavan, Meezaan Jafri, more of Jaaved Jaaferi and even Gautami Kapoor, yet the early chatter did not match the scale of the ensemble. The music did not break through and the promotions stayed low energy.
With the Monday slide, the weekdays become tougher. Ajay Devgn now shifts toward a packed list of projects such as Dhamaal 4, Drishyam 3 and Golmaal 5. As for this sequel, the chase to outdo the earlier film has faded. The remaining days will show whether it can still build its own place in the box office story.
De De Pyaar De 2 faced a tougher Monday than expected. After a steady weekend that reached 34.75 crore, the film slipped to 4.25 crore on Day 4. The earlier film had managed 6.19 crore on its first Monday, which puts the new one behind in comparison. The sequel now needs stronger weekday numbers to stay steady at the box office.
