Ashish Chanchlani is one of the accused in the India's Got Latent controversy, with Ranveer Allahbadia being the key accused. The issue started after they made inappropriate remarks on the show, which upset many people and the authorities. Following this, multiple FIRs were filed against Ranveer, Ashish, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, and others involved in the controversy in Assam and Mumbai.
Now, Ashish has approached the Supreme Court to seek the quashing of the FIRs against him. According to a report from Republic World, he has requested the Supreme Court to cancel the case registered against him in Assam. Like Ranveer, he has filed a writ petition for this purpose, with the plea drafted by advocate Shubham Kulshreshtha and submitted by advocate Manju Jaitley. The petition seeks to quash the FIR registered at the Cyber Police Station in Guwahati.
The Supreme Court is set to hear Ashish's petition today (February 21), with the case listed before Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh. This comes after the Supreme Court granted interim relief to Ranveer Allahbadia, preventing his further arrest in the same controversy.
For those who may not know, the FIR was initially filed against the YouTubers in Assam for allegedly promoting obscenity on India's Got Latent. The case was based on a complaint filed on February 10, which cited multiple sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhtia, IT Act, Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, and the Cinematograph Act.
Ashish co-judged the show alongside Samay Raina, Allahbadia, and Apoorva.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court granted pre-arrest bail to Ranveer Allahbadia on Tuesday in the controversy that has sparked nationwide outrage over its obscenity.
