After Kill and Chand Mera Dil, Lakshya & Karan Johar Join Forces for Another Edge-of-the-Seat Thriller

Karan Johar, known for his larger-than-life dramas, recently took audiences by surprise with Kill, an adult action thriller that earned international acclaim for its unapologetically violent and gory sequences. The film’s lead actor, Lakshya Lalwani, garnered widespread praise for his intense performance, while Johar was lauded for venturing into uncharted territory as a producer.

Now, according to Pinkvilla, Johar and Lalwani are reuniting for yet another action-packed venture. “Lakshya will spearhead a new-age action film to be produced by Karan Johar. The film will go on floors in Summer 2025, once the shooting for Chand Mera Dil is wrapped up. Much like Kill, this one too will be a high-octane action thriller, and the stakeholders are excited to roll with it,” the publication reported.

The report further revealed that while the director’s name remains under wraps, Dharma Productions is actively developing this adrenaline-fueled thriller. “The director’s name has been kept under wraps, but the teams at Dharma are silently working on this action-packed thriller. The casting for other parts will happen shortly, but it’s a story that everyone strongly believes in, as the action in the film is backed by strong emotion and drama,” the source added.

Lakshya Lalwani, who made his debut with Dharma Productions, is also gearing up for Chand Mera Dil, a coming-of-age romantic comedy opposite Ananya Panday. Directed by Karan Johar, the film is scheduled to release in 2025. While Kill may not have been a massive box-office success, it gained critical acclaim and achieved profitability. The film was also showcased at several international film festivals, earning accolades before its Indian release.

The success of Kill has sparked considerable interest in remakes. Tamil and Telugu adaptation rights have been acquired by Raghava Lawrence, while Hollywood is also eyeing the project, with the makers of John Wick reportedly planning a remake.

With Kill redefining action cinema in India and the upcoming film promising to follow suit, the collaboration between Karan Johar and Lakshya Lalwani is fast becoming synonymous with bold, innovative storytelling in contemporary Indian cinema.
