Radhika Apte received heavy criticism from Twitter for her 2015 drama parched. The actress was targeted relentlessly by Twitter trolls for apparently “destroying Indian culture”. In no time, the hashtag ‘BoycottRadhikaApte’ started trending on Twitter, and since then netizens have continuously slammed the actress.

Her co-star and actor Adil Hussain has opened up about the recent trend on social media and called it “absolutely ridiculous”.

The trend started off after a few pictures of Radhika and Adil’s intimate scene from the film made viral on the internet, leading to people objecting to Apte’s nudity.

Adil reflected on the same and said, “I got to know about it a couple of days back when I saw some Google alerts. I think it’s ridiculous to troll Radhika or make a big deal about that scene. I don’t pay much attention to such things at all. I just think the only way to respond to it is, that you don’t (respond at all).”

The actor highlighted that people trolling these scenes between him and Apte don’t understand the “difference between art and porn; art is still questioned”. He also asserted, people should “go to the school of life, school of art”.

Hussain blames the lack of education among people that such things start to trend without any reason. However, the actor also pointed out, he isn’t really blaming those who trolled, but the education system.

He said, “Our education system is almost to get a job, be job literate. It’s not the education, which we’re receiving since the British era... to make a bunch of people run the British machinery, which was left behind. We’re still running that. The purpose of education was to make them a working machine for the British Raj. It needs radical change, and I hope the Indian government will do it soon.”

Adil Hussain and Radhika Apte put on their bold shoes as they went nude for a lovemaking scene in Leena Yadav’s ‘Parched’. The film received critical appreciation and premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2015 after which it was released in India in 2016.

The truth is people are just hypocrites and delusional. How do people think they came into the world? It’s funny how positive acts are made to feel shameful and negative actions are glorified.
