Acid attack survivor Laxmi FEELS this on Deepika playing her on-screen

Deepika Padukone is one versatile actress who has given us many different roles. This time around, Deepika will debut in the world of biopics with her next film based on the story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal directed by Meghna Gulzar.

While we feel that Deepika will do a flawless job in this film too, Laxmi herself has the same opinion of the actress. In an interview to Hindustan Times, Laxmi Agarwal on Deepika portraying her on-screen expressed, "I am so happy that Deepika is playing the role. I have no right to judge her. How can I judge someone for something which I can't do. She has played wonderful characters on screen and I believe she will give her best. I want to thank Deepika ji, Meghna ji and the entire team who will be working together on the film".

When Deepika had signed this film she was asked in an interview on what attracted her to the script. To which she revealed, "When I heard the story, I was deeply moved. It is a story not just of gross violence, but of strength, courage, hope and victory. It has had such a massive impact on me that I personally and creatively needed go beyond and hence the decision to turn producer too".

About director Meghna Gulzar, Laxmi said that she is happy about the fact that Gulzar will be spreading awareness about the acid attack victims. "I had signed the movie in 2016 and the official announcement has been made now," she added. Laxmi also expressed the desire to sign in her biopic.

About Laxmi's story, she was 15 when a 32-year-old man attacked her with acid. As he was in love with Laxmi, to avenge his love he threw acid on her. After the horrifying incident, Laxmi has been talking about acid attacks and has been gathering support for a petition to curb the sale of acids in India.
