Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has finally addressed the emotional impact of ongoing online trolling and rumours, particularly those surrounding his personal life. Speaking in a recent interview with ETimes, the actor candidly explained why he chooses not to clarify false narratives about himself or his family.
Abhishek said that misinformation doesn't just hurt him anymore—it also affects his loved ones. “Earlier, it didn’t bother me. Today, I have a family. Even if I clarify, people will twist it. Because negative news sells,” he pointed out. Referring to the constant buzz around his marriage with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, he chose not to mention specifics but said such negativity weighs on families more than the individual being targeted.
He added that the people spreading falsehoods are least interested in hearing the truth. “You're not me. You don't live my life. You're not answerable to the people I am. They need to live with their conscience,” he remarked, holding back nothing.
The Guru actor shared an incident involving his close friend, Sikander Kher, to highlight how damaging online trolling can be. After a troll made a harsh comment on one of Abhishek’s social media posts, Sikander responded by posting his address and daring the troll to repeat the insult in person. “It’s easy to hide behind a screen and write the nastiest things,” Abhishek said. “But you are hurting someone. No matter how strong they appear, it stings.”
He went on to challenge the very idea of faceless hate. “If you're going to write it online, have the guts to say it to my face. If you do, at least that shows conviction. I would respect that,” he added.
Abhishek’s honest words reflect a growing sentiment among public figures—where silence is often mistaken for acceptance, but in truth, it’s a deliberate choice made for personal peace and dignity.
His response not only defends his family’s honour but also calls out the culture of casual cruelty online, reminding us all of the human being behind the headlines.
