He shares a very bad relationship with his mother Renuka Sanyal whom he even refuses to speak to as she was too busy in his childhood to spend time with him. He is rude, arrogant but possesses a heart of gold and can go to any extent to protect the one he loves. He bickers a lot with Sanyukta and always tries to prove her wrong but end up falling in love with her.
