Its better to be active on posting under active topics than opening posts for every small thing with a title unnecessarily.

Number of posts matters the most than the number of threads u create n leave amidst.

Best example is CCs chat thread matters a lot in activity though its a single thread views n replies increase n play a big part in activity.

So yes create threads n discuss bt be sensible enough not to create a thread for every single thought comes/ cross ur mind.
