So I was listening to Tu Mera Nahi (used as OST for MNYH) and came across some absolutely fantastic piece of music - ie Season 4 of Nescafe Basement Pakistan..

these are my top picks so far..

1) Tere Jeha Hor Disda

Zeeshan Ali - What are u mahn?? I love the voice quality of paki singers quite often, but this guy has such strong hold on classical singing as well..those alaaps and murkis he took..LIKE DAMN!

and what a brilliant musical arrangement..the violin, tabla guy and the drummer were classs..totally crazzyy!😆👏

2) Kameez teri Kali

This song got on to me after multiple hearings, but now its like stuck in my mind😆 powerfully sung and performed..gaah the flute! mesmerized totally!

Thanks for sharing Hiral,I loved them and discovered more...their rendition of folklores in punjabi is great too.

But they are long...so a perfect mood setting is required.

Yo Rupali :)))😳😳 m glad u liked it..

I agree they are atleast 6-8 minutes..but I guess thats coz there is a lot of transition in the style of orchestration..plus nescafe basement and coke studio is sorta more about the symphony in instruments and playing with fusion than strictly vocals..

btw I went to a Javed Ali concert very recently, and mahn! he is so good..he sang our mutual favourite - Chaap Tilak too❤️ but the best one was Mora Saiyaan mose bole na and Tum Tak from Ranjhannaa..flawless and dil se wala singing at the same time <3

Eee... I so envy you right there.😭But as a mumbaikar...this should not be missed at all.😳

Tum tak is another fav of mine abd I absolutely disliked it in the first listen...so is banarasiya from ranjhana...love they are.

Ohh yess,I see...u are actually right on instrumentation and vocals.Sometimes u wanna get lost in the effect of the symphony and sometimes all u want to hear is the lyrics.So that makes original that has more of lyrical aspect and these remixed ones equally worthy.

Hiral,do u like sufi music??I just happened to find one by Abida Pervin (yes hers again😆) and its beyond love and poetry...just undescribed!!

isnt that the most common thing with most rahman songs😉😉 most of them take time to grow, but once it does, its just for life😆 except tamasha's blaaah album maybe (barring agar tum saath ho to an extent) and some other forgettable ones (cant even recall their names, so yeah😆)

true that - and beautifully put Rupluuu..Id read once that when ur happy, u enjoy the music/ the tune, but when ur sad, u connect with the lyrics😳

yessshhh sufi - always a favourite..I love arziyan, teri deewani, kun fayakun..amongst many others..jaldi se bol do, which one by Abida jee😳

And its in pure verses which is beyond our understanding na toh this has english translation too.

Tell me about it Hir,Rahman has that effect.Kun faya kun,rutt aa gayi re and swades album is my topmost favourite by him.❤️

I'm following this thread for songs now... I've listened few songs from Coke Studio unplugged Pakistan. Paimona, biwi sanam janam etc & I freaking lubed them.
