one question about the turkish engagement tradition: the rings which were bought were tied by a ribbon. then when the rings were on the guys & girls finger riza cut off the ribbon. i found that a bit strange. isnt marriage about union? then why this cutting? maybe it had some connection of the girl cutting off ties with her parents home? but no that doesnt make much sense to me. and also ye shaadi nahi engagement thi, maayke se rishta todne mein time hai if at all.

what confuses me is why doesnt she take a chance with emir here? he already knows about the magazine thing being fake and he has apologized N number of times. so why not tell him about this engagement. if they love each other that much why cant they get engaged. i know things arent that simple, his parents wont agree, riza will throw a fit, etc. but at this point what has she got to loose? if emir too refuses her after knowing her reality & about her impending engagement & leaves her OR cannot do anything to save her from this engagement then maybe she can give up & as u said stop running from her reality & destiny.
