This best friend thing is a myth. A man you view as your potential husband will never and can never be your best friend. He's always going to be the man you fancy and that's the truth. But I personally, with all of my heart, think that Sara was a victim given the fact that she was literally given dreams of a life with Asher for lunch and dinner by her aunt and mother for her entire life.

She was programmed to love him and desire him and it should not have been so. She should instead have been taught to let time decide who she could love and marry.
