Yes Fk does sound like that only. I saw a clip in which the whole team of humsafar got an award for the outstanding piece of wor. The director referred to him as Mr. Khan and he got that huge applause, it reminded me Srk only.

If you consider Fawad as an "outsider", I must say he's got a super banner to work with.
Zindagi channel has no doubt played a big role for his publicity, and it has helped Khoobsurat promos, for sure.
But I'm sure that even without it, given the UTV Disney banner, and Sonam Kapoor, (she has a huge fan following, even if she is unpopular with many) the people who would have watched would have been impressed with him, because he's so damn good.

Coming to another topic of people being pleasantly surprised at the exposure he is getting in the promos, IMHO, its only because people went on speculating with "its a chick flick; Rakesh Roshan hardly had a role in the original; questions about why Fawad is taking up a side role like a decorative piece; The Kapoor sisters will sideline him and focus on Sonam; this movie is going to be a flop"

in response to this, may people have been saying that we don't know anything, lets at least see the trailer, ( which again, in Bollywood, really has nothing to predict)

Everytime I would see a post where they would talk about him being sidelined and not getting a good deal, I would reply saying from what I read about the movie, that its NOT a remake. Its a brand new script, but the characters have retained the same spirit. I also read somewhere that its the next generation of those characters in the original movie.
Now how much of this is true, we don't know. But so far so good.
I think Fawad is getting great exposure as a part of the promos of Khoobsurat. And now the critics are saying that the Kapoors are cashing in on his popularity with ZGH.
What I'm basically is saying, is that nothing seems good enough at any stage. Speculation never helps.

I agree with what pinkeye says. FAK is an outsider...outsider as in not from a BW family. Nationality isnt really an issue. There are plenty of BW folks who are not Indians-Imran Khan, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif are a few recent examples.
But having said that you also have a point..UTV is a damn good banner. Many Indians also would have killed for the same debut. FAK bagged his debut much before ZGH aired on TV so he got it based on his work in Pakistan rather than popularity in India. Lets see how things go from here on. Looks positive to me so far.

So he stuck with his romantic persona and now he is perhaps even too old for that. Aamir in comparison is more versatile. I feel somewhere down the line SRK got fedup and got into business big time as he didnt feel challenged by cinema. FAK is attempting BW.

yeah, he is kind of like SRK at the moment. 😆 Momina Duraid (the producer of biggest hits ZGH/Humsafar/Dastaan) is kind of like Dharma/yrf for Fawad to put stuff more into perspective here.. 😆 I personally feel NOW they're kind of exploiting Fawad's potential. I see Momina Duraid offering a variety of things to other male actors..yet I don't see her offering the same to Fawad. 😆..which is why I find Humtv very shrewd despite them being a very successful channel. They know what works for them best...and that's by having Fawad play more or less lovey dovey characters..granted, Zaroon/Asher/Hassan were different from one another also..but they still fall under one end of the spectrum. And this producer, Momina Duraid works for Humtv. Yeah, Fawad doesn't really like romantic roles either..at least not from whatever he states. He calls his performance in Akbari Asghari his favorite performance..and it's of an outright villager meanwhile, the show is comedy...says a lot.

That's why some people argue Fawad's overrated..because they don't find his resume of work too praiseworthy despite their successes. However, at the same time...audiences don't give his shows like Akbari Asghari a chance. Momina Duraid basically loves cashing in on Fawad's success. I've yet to see them offer him anything versatile.

Akbari Asghari was aired on Humtv by the way..but Momina Duraid did not produce that..another production house did and Humtv took it. Akbari Asghari used to air on Saturdays back in 2011. And, Fri thru Sun is usually reserved for the bigger shows, with bigger stars. So, Humtv had it on Saturdays..then Humsafar aired..they took Akbari Asghari out of Saturdays and slated it for Thursdays. They then placed Humsafar on Saturdays. Humsafar was of course Momina Duraid's.
Whatever viewership Akbari Asghari DID have, went out the window with a Thursday slot.

The industry gives very few chances to people who are not from the inner circle, its make or break situation for them. Whereas star kids are given ample opportunities. Do not take it otherwise. If you thought so, then sorry. But his nationality will also be highlighted as its impossible to deny that bollywood though have place for every one but do confine or corner people too to sustain the monopoly. Thats a fact.

oh ok, I thought you meant nationality.😳

But I don't quite agree with you when you say it is a fact. Its not. I am in the media industry, and there are a lot of people as outsiders, as you define it, who have got a break, have sustained and have been successful too.
in fact, look at the biggest "insider" Abhishek Bachchan, 😆 he still has to have a hit. He'll prolly be forced to retire before he manages one. 😆

I believe Fawad bagged Khoobsurat in the middle of ZGH.
