Bonus Part
“Gappu!” Monami entered Karan’s room. He was nowhere to be seen and the door was open. Plus she had his permission to visit Gappu anytime she wanted. “My baby! Aww baby ne mujhe miss kiya? Woh khadoos Shergill ne zyada pareshan toh nahi kiya na? Baby ko pyaas lagi hai? Khadoos Shergill paani nahi pilata mere baby ko?” Monami touched the soil and found that it was damp. That meant Karan had watered it just today. “Toh Khadoos Shergill ne pani pilaya mere bachhe ko. Chalo kuch toh achha kiya! I missed you so much. Tu yaha khush toh hai na Gappu? Mummy ki yaad nahi aati?”
Karan was amused to see Monami talking that way to a plant. He had just jumped into the washroom for a quick shower. But when he heard Monami’s voice, he came out to see what the matter was. There she was, showering her love on Gappu.
“Hawww Gappu! You traitor! Tu toh itna khush lag raha hai. Matlab mumma se zyada tujhe woh Khadoos Shergill pasand hai? Not right! Main teri itni care karti hu aur tu uss khadoos ke saath chill kar raha hai. Jaa main baat nahi karti tujhse.” Monami pouted.
“No no Raani sahiba. Gappu toh raat bhar rota hai apni mummy ke liye!” Karan rolled his eyes.
Monami was shocked to hear Karan’s voice. She turned around to look at him and blushed profusely when she saw that he was standing just in a towel. It was hard to admit that the view took her breath away. She wanted to keep looking, but also she couldn’t look at him directly because she was embarrassed.
“Aap taad rahi hai?”
“No, no… I…” Monami turned around. “Main Gappu se milne aayi thi and darwaza khula tha. Tumhe dekha nahi toh I thought tum room mein nahi ho. You said main kabhi bhi Gappu se milne aa sakti hu. Isiliye mein yaha… Tum towel pehene ghum rahe ho.”
“Oh hello, main naha raha tha. Mujhe koi shauk nahi hai tumhare saamne towel pehenke ghumne ka. Tum aayi room mein bina knock kiye!”
“Haa toh room lock karna chahiye tha na!” Monami said.
“Fine you can turn around, maine shirt pehen li hai.” Karan said.
Monami turned around to see Karan had put on a white shirt. She felt slightly disappointed to see him in a shirt. The previous view was better. He was finishing up buttoning his shirt, and Monami wanted him to stop.
“Thank you.” Monami said. “Gappu ka khyaal rakhne ke liye. He seems happy!”
Karan looked at Gappu in Monami’s hand. He couldn’t figure out how exactly it was looking happy. It was a plant and it looked like a plant. Monami kissed it and caressed it.
“Kya main aaj Gappu ko apne saath le jau?” Monami asked. “Kal wapas le aaungi.”
“Bilkul nahi.” Karan said.
“But why? I miss him and he misses me.” Monami said. “Mere baby ko mummy ke saath thoda time spend karna hai.”
“Baby ko papa ke saath rehna hai.” Karan said but was immediately shocked at his own statement. He was just trying to tease Monami. But he ended up calling himself papa. She had officially driven him crazy.
Monami kept looking at him as if he had sprouted horns. “Excuse me, just because Gappu tumhare saath rehta hai, doesn’t mean he’s yours. He’s mine!”
“Par Gappu toh mere saath khush hai! Look at him!” Karan pointed out. He had no idea what exactly he was pointing at but Monami looked slightly upset looking at Gappu.
“Okay fine!” Monami said. “Let’s do one thing. Gappu tumhare saath weekdays ko rahega aur mere saath weekend spend karega. Saturday main ise le jaungi aur Sunday night lauta dungi. Agreed?”
Karan nodded. “Fine Rani sahiba. But Gappu ki koi complain nahi aani chahiye tumhare against.”
“Same for you!” Monami looked at Gappu lovingly and kissed it. “Bye mera bachha. Main Saturday le jaungi tumhe. Tab tak raho khadoos Shergill ke saath. Zyada pareshaan kare toh mujhe batana. Love you Gappu!”
She handed over Gappu to Karan and left his room. Karan looked at the plant in his hands. It was cute, but the girl kissing it was cuter. He placed it on his bedside table and wondered what his life had come to. Monami changed everything.
