Star Profile: Karan Kundra

There is something effortlessly sexy about Karan Kundra, an icon of success on Indian Television . He is more famous as Arjun Punj, his avatar in the NDTV Imagine's TV serial Kitani Mohabbat Hai, produced by Ekta Kapoor's production house Balaji Telefilms.

Born into a business family of Jalandhar, Punjab (b. October 11, 1984), most of Karan's schooling was done in Jalandhar. Karan's is a truly global family! His parents live in Jalandhar, Punjab. Out of four siblings, Karan moved to Mumbai, while one of his sisters -who is a doctor, lives in Florida, USA; another one is in Toronto, Canada and third sister lives in Jalandhar, Punjab. Before moving to Mumbai, Karan was pursuing his MBA degree from Florida, USA.

It has not been long since this dashing young gun made his entry into the fickle television industry. His first breakthrough came when he was cast in Balaji Telefilms' 'Kitani Mohabbat hai'. The 26 year old, 6'1 hottie, soon became a household phenomenon. He charmed women everywhere and made young girls go weak in the knees as he played the role of 'Arjun Punj', a man wrongly convicted of crime. But fate had different plans for him; sadly the show only lasted from January 19th, 2009 to September 25th, 2009. Fans sure were crestfallen, and at the same time agitated, about the cancellation of the show. As of now, there is a buzz going around for a sequel for the show, due to strong public demand.

The end of 'Kitani Mohabbat Hai' was also a bittersweet one for Karan, as it was during the filming of this show that he met his lady love, Kritika Kamra. It was a dream come true for all the followers of 'Kitni Mohabbat hai' who had laughed, cried, and celebrated moments with their beloved 'Arjun and Arohi'. After this show, Karan worked in a couple of Sony Entertainment Television (India)'s shows, Betaab Dil Ki Tamanna Hai and Aahat. He also participated as a contestant in Star Plus TV channel's reality dance show Zara Nachke Dikha, with his lady love Kritika Kamra.

This former finalist of Mr. India 2008 and winner of the title of Mr. Style Statement know a thing or two about being macho, but don't mistake Karan for someone who is all body and no brains! Karan Kundra, in his own words, is a thoroughbred businessman. He owns a well established international call centre in Jalandhar. Before coming to acting, Karan was helping his father, Mr. S.P. Kundra, in their family business of building infrastructural amenities for new buildings under construction. Their latest completed project is "Insignia Shopping Mall" in the city of Jalandhar.

Karan thinks working in movies is a sort of gambling. There is no formula to predict the success or failure of a movie and being a businessman, Karan knows he can be back at square one, if the movie doesn't do well – despite his colossal fan-club!
