Feels like old times because I'm gonna be replying to multiple posts here.

I think it's because they've taken the qualities of some of these characters (especially Kunal and Meenakshi) that are easily susceptible to manipulation via the writing, extorted them, and blown them out of proportion (Kunal's dedication to his mother and Abir, and Meenu's need to control everything). And in that process, they've drowned out any remaining redeeming qualities, so that everything looks OOC and overly dramatic. So then people can't argue that these characters do not have the same qualities, even though the portrayal and execution is vastly different.

Yes! Exactly! They've definitely blown them out of proportion and made them one dimensional (as Daya said), and I hate that.

Also, not going to be quoting your excerpt below because it's too long (insert Hansa gif) and you already know how I feel about it.

For those of y’all who haven’t seen this masterpiece, please please watch our very own (journalgirl321) Meera's rendition of Kuhu’s dilemma right now.. 🥺♥️
when I say I have seen this one too many times to count and she only posted it yesterday.. and also got some love from Kaveri!! Congrats Meera! 🥰🎉🎊

The lyrics and scenes are so aptly fit together.. I have no words. And I’m proud of Kuhu for saying “it ain’t me!!” 💯💯 and also that caption 🥺👏

I have seen it too many times but I had to stop because it made me super emo. I can't believe my love for Kuhu is the reason I had to stop watching the show. I can't see her be so hurt and like you, I'm super proud that she said, "It ain't me!".

Do they want Rupalji's role reduced in the future since she'll be on 2 shows and are going about it like this?

Seems very possible but I doubt this show would survive without her.

Your description of the beginning of today's episode is making me want to watch it but I don't know if I would be able to stop myself from watching the whole thing.

Kuhu and Mishti stands for themselves against Abir and Kunal but with Meenu, both Kuhu and Mishti uses a soft tone and never gives any logical arguments. Well seems like it won't change soon. I am also waiting for Mishku moments. Hopefully soon.

I feel that is because they know how much power she holds and that there's always more to everything she says or does.

All Kuhu scenes (her response to Kunal's apology, talk with Varsha, meeting with BB, second meeting with Kunal) were good, but can't match the fire of yesterday's episode. It's only the last scene at RJV that totally messes things up.

Also, since you haven't watched earlier episodes, wanted to mention that 2 episodes back Kunal did argue with BB that he couldn't ask Kuhu to be surrogate and gave reasons for that.

Still hoping there is a good reason for her to have changed her mind.

Aaaaah!! I have a feeling I am going to watch it a some point. Why you do this?!😭

Did you hear Kaveri's full interview on tellychakkar? At the end they asked about this track. She thinks it's going to end up ok even though fans don't like it now.

This track (after that whole magazine cover drama got done) they decided to derail BB, not Kuhu. You should watch if you can - her discussions with Varsha, Jas, and Kunal about baby, the way she gets upset for Mishti and then stands by her...there are scenes where not a word is said but expressions are brilliant and convey so much. Even Kunal and her relationship was moving along well.

Daya! You are definitely tempting me now!😵

BB is (or should I say, was?) one of my favourite characters along with Kuhu. Then come Varsha and Kunal in the second place, with Nidhi and Jasmeet tying for the third. This list has kept changing since the time I began watching the show but I feel like now, it's pretty solid because I know all the characters in and out. Kaash itna focus apne aap par kiya hota but koi nahi, better late than never.

The expressions in the background is what I love about this cast. They don't lose character just because they know they're not the main focus of the shot. It gives so many layers to the story.

I haven't heard Kaveri's interview but as always, she is too hopeful and rightly so because she knows how it will end. My issue is seeing my favourites be used as per convenience. It hurts to see Kuhu and Varsha be insulted and mocked even if it's fiction. I may watch the episodes if there is genuinely a good ending to this or if the show finally ends (I will probably be too busy partying, like kzk2 forum was, to go watch the old episodes)

Kya karun? I miss the discussions in this AT 😆

I know BB is one of your favorites. She isn't mine, but I thought I understood how her mind worked and had some respect. In this track she kind of destroyed that with the way she talked about and to Kunal (and others - but that didn't affect my opinion much). That's one of the scenes I was talking about - when BB is talking about why adoption is not what she wants. If you can mute the dialogues (they are quite horrendous) and watch the expressions - so amazing!

Kuhu and Varsha haven't really been mocked at all in this adoption/surrogacy track so far. No guarantees about what will happen tomorrow of course. I know you're keeping tabs, so let's hope the track gets interesting enough to get people back. I'm at the point where I just reset expectations at the beginning of each track and take it one day at a time.

If they are planning to end it, I hope they tie things up well. Don't watch too many serials. The other show that has my attention now is Shaadi Mubarak, seems like it has yours too! 😊

Yup, I agree especially after the usual manipulation by Meenu. I guess as someone rightly pointed out, this show is going to shut soon given the speed of the baby track. I guess we have to be happy with what we get.

Posting an excerpt that I didn't include in the caption about my creation:

I think the big thing I saw in the lyrics, especially when it got to the chorus was that Kuhu kept being that person that fixed something broken inside Kunal, but when it came to her, he simply wasn't able to support her. And at the end of the day, I'd like to think that she recognizes that beyond a certain point, it is not her job to try to fix him, especially when it's at the expense of her own happiness.

Kunal 1.0 caught feelings for Kuhu because of everything Mishti wasn't, and now Kunal 2.0 can't stand the fact that she can't be more like her. It was one thing when everyone would compare Kuhu and Mishti. But Kunal never did. And that's another big reason Kuhu felt like she could be herself with him.

These lines sum it up for me:

Who's gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?

Who's gonna rock you when the sun won't let you sleep?

Who's waking up to drive you home when you're drunk and all alone?

Who's gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?

I have not watched the following episode, because for the time being, in my version, Kuhu completes this and says "it ain't me", and walks out for good.

True, Kunal 1.0 never wanted Kuhu to be Mishti, it was Kuhu-ness that pulled him towards Kuhu in the first place.

So I've been watching the episodes for the past few days because I see clips on social media and then I get reeled in because the performances on all of the cast members' parts are pretty compelling. And this might be an unpopular opinion, but I found the most recent episode filled with a lot of interesting nuances (though I agree, the track itself is horrible and pretty torturous to digest).

I hated that Kuhu interfered in Mishti and Abir's adoption process. That was a gross violation of their privacy on her part, and she should've at least sat them down and discussed her POV before going ahead and interfering where it was clearly not her place to. Clearly, both sisters and brothers have a huge problem when it comes to sticking their noses into each others' business.

However (and I think this is largely due to Kaveri's amazing portrayal as well), I could understand Kuhu's dilemma, and watch it play out throughout this episode. I don't believe that she is after property, but she's more concerned with the idea that in the future, her children, Kunal, and she will have to face second class citizen treatment in the house. She's already gotten a large glimpse of this treatment in the past week, when Meenakshi very cruelly called Kunal her "charity case" multiple times, and said that his future children would have no value to her as her ghar's "asli waaris", and how much that broke Kunal's heart.

There is also an interesting recurring use of the word "duniyadaari" in the past couple episodes. Three people use it, but in three different scenarios: Varsha, when she speaks of thinking of her daughter's wellbeing; Meenakshi, when she talks in the context of how she would automatically be obliged to Kuhu if she agreed to being the surrogate; and Kuhu, when she speaks in veiled words about... well, I guess that was left open to interpretation (notice the look she shoots Varsha when she says it?).

The next thing I noticed is when Kunal enthusiastically hugs Kuhu in their room and thanks her for agreeing, Kuhu looks somewhat uncomfortable and kind of pulls away quickly (I don't know if this is a detail that Kaveri inserted herself, or if it was required of the scene by the director). This could mean one of two things: She either feels guilty for hiding the real reason she agreed (which I think is unlikely, to be honest), or she feels like she no longer can expect anything beyond an extremely superficial relationship with Kunal at this point. I am inclined to think it is the second reason, especially because Kunal has proved that he cannot support Kuhu if Kuhu cannot support Abir and Mishti when he wants her to, and he is has especially proven that he is incapable of supporting her through her own difficulties. I'd like to think that that would be enough for Kuhu to leave for good, but I think after idolizing marriages like her parents' and her grandparents', I don't even know if she sees divorce as a viable option (plus, it is a DKP show, so even if a woman separated from her husband and sasural, she'd eventually come back 🙄).

What is obviously rubbing me the wrong way is that all of this directly interferes with Mishti and Abir's plans to have a child. But I don't really see that as Kuhu's fault alone. Meenakshi put her in the tough spot of having to choose between a future where her husband and hypothetical children would be treated awfully and not given any say, and a future where Meenakshi would be indebted to her. And this show loves to demonize any hint of self-preserving behavior by putting it in contrast with selfless behavior, especially when it's in regards to women.

At the risk of sounding incredibly cynical, I believe that this is how a good majority of the world works. People do sacrifice things with the expectation that they will eventually be able to claim a reward in the future. In Kuhu's case, it is the emotional security and wellbeing of her future family. She knows that under no circumstance will Kunal leave home, even if he or Kuhu is emotionally abused regularly by Meenakshi, and I do not think she is prepared to think about a future in which she will have to separate from Kunal and raise her children as a single mother, nor will she give up the chance of raising children of her own at some point in her life.

So it's a tough, horribly messy situation. And I really cannot find fault with the POV of any of the people involved, except for the control-freak of a matriarch whose current sole purpose is to use her family members as pawns to carry out her agenda.

I saw that scene with the hug and the one with Meenu basically threatening Kuhu's future. I never knew it was possible to feel sad and hurt over a fictional character's pain. Oh Kuhu!!!

You know what this reminds me of? The time when she used to say that she is alone. It hurt a bit then but there was hope that she would get her "fairytale" because Kunal would finally take up the role of her husband, but now, it hurts because she really is all alone.

We've talked about Kunal 1.0 and 2.0 versions and Avinash has gotten a bit of flack because of everyone's attachment with the character and we had all at some point decided to see Avinash's version of Kunal as just a different story all together but to be honest, the guy is playing a different Kunal. The writing of this Kunal is quite frankly, very different from how the pre-lockdown version was written or rather the pre-resort version because as soon as the sister track had rolled in, Kunal had become more aloof and a bit mean, if I may say so. The base nature was still not as different maybe because of Ritvik's understanding of his character or whatever the reason was, but even then, there was some hope of things getting better and Kunal learning to be a better husband. Now, I don't see it anymore. This Kunal has gotten comfortable in only being a son, brother and "based on my convenience" husband, and I don't really see it changing because there needs to be external force for him to move out of his inertia. Earlier, it was Parul, advising him to become a bridge between Kuhu and his family but now, she is also more concerned about him being the Lakshman to Abir and Mishti. In all of this, the guy who was supposed to be the bridge is forcing his wife to be that bridge (along with the Meenu putting in a very similar pressure).

The way the present storyline is, I don't really see any hope of Kuhu having an ounce of genuine happiness in the future, and I see Kuhu moving further and further apart from Kunal just finding satisfaction in the fact that atleast her kid(s) escaped the grim future that could have been. In short, I see her becoming the shell of a person she is to keep others around her happy; the rainbow losing her own colors to protect other people's life from becoming colourless.
