@ Clarity - interesting question, can Meenakshi be redeemed?
Honestly based on the current track , I would be inclined to say 'well no' and then after a long pause 'but' and the reason I say but is theoretically writers should know their characters in and out; why they do what they do, and how it will all culminate and whether a character deserves redemption.
For instance in the beginning Meenu's motivation seemed clear, she saw a vid and got the wrong end of the stick about the 2 girls, that M 'breaks family'. Fair enough, she did not know them from Adam and any mother would want to protect her babies from silly girls who do not value family!
But as time progressed, she saw them ample times, enough to see what and who they are. We have also been shown that she is a clever and shrewd business woman. Then the baba track came, again she saw Misthi for who she is -rather than breaking family, she brings family together even if it is to her own cost - yet Meenu's fatal flaw stopped her from believing in Mishti. And I stopped believing in her motivation and characterisation right there and then, in fact I would say Meenu's motivation is pure jealousy now, that Misbir and KuKu are getting their happily ever after when she did not get hers!🤣 to destroy her sons lives is her kinda love. (Tell me, you mothers in the forum, would you want your child happy or heartbroken?!)
She keeps saying 'mishti is not right for this house' or that she 'breaks family', well duh open your eyes lady, that statement has been answered repeatedly that it makes no sense to still pursue this agenda against Mishti so unless we are shown something completely new to tell us why Meenu persists in believing blindly in the face of the truth we have all been shown we have to accept she is pure evil.
Now she is using Kuhu to fulfil her prophecy, that mishti breaks family. If the writers of the show are creative and really utilise th story arc then I would be inclined to say that will be the time the symbolism of the frame breaking will be answered in a two fold way, for good and to take the show on a new turning point to really emphasise the tag of yeh rishtey hai pyar ke. Abir and Kunal will realise the reality of Meenu's love for them - that her first love is always Abir and Kunal comes a distant second (don't even get me started on how that relationship had not been resolved!) and Mishti and Kuhu will for once and all decide whether to be sisters or enemies. See, I believe that will be the time for Kuhu to decide whether to stand with Mishti by declaring the truth or join the line of accusers to declare she is trying to break the RV family. Meenu will show her hand, flourish that legal paper (I have mention this in another thread somewhere) to say Mishti had threatened/forced her hand to give her the property rights to her as she is the wife of the true RV and she, Meenu was weak and had no choice for her family's sake, and in the same breath she will alienate KuKu and Parul by calling them outsiders. RV family will be split in two and Mishti will be given the blame and hence proving her word to everyone that this girl is not right and she breaks families.
Given the characters of Misbir, they will not let KuKu or Parul leave RV nor accept that legal paper, they instead will leave or give the paper over to KuKu. Because that is how they are. However given the crazy things that crop up I am almost inclined to believe somehow Mishti will be blackmailed into accepting that paper....or Abir will be made to forsake Mishti again...😵
Meenu's redemption will only start when Abir reacts as per his character as no one else matters to her. If he leaves or has nothing to do with her. But the key to understanding this goes back to what is her real motivation for this hatred she nurses against Mishti?! until this is truly answered there will always be some doubts. So to answer the TM question, the trope of indian show is to forgive, no matter how badly someone behaved!🤡
At this moment to my critical eye, all the scenes shown are contrived conflict leading to the breaking and then blaming of mishti otherwise Meenu is just mad and ready for bedlam! Same could be said for the Kuhu character, writers are wavering between her two prominent self and seems like they are still undecided to wholly make her good or bad. And again all for contrived conflict.
Conflict is something that should be organic from the characters and their lives, not because it is the trope of the Indian show or what the producers think viewers want.
