I have been wearing glasses since 5th grade and I am in my early 20's now. Time and time again people have commented that I look better without them including my own family. Today at the eye doctors office my mom insisted that I get my eyes checked for lasik. When they were checked previously they were deemed not suitable. When I asked her the reason she told me because you would look better without them. What is this part of looking better without glasses when will we as a society stop treating gilrs like objects and dictating how they dress. I am appalled to see so many comments on the forum ,youtube, twitter where people actually believe that Misthi is plain looking and boring and looks better without glasses. Well so what why can't people digest that not everyone wears heavy makeup or dresses like a diva. What about girls like us who prefer modest dresses and minimal makeup why won't the society accept us with glasses and for who we are. What happened with Misthi today was the same thing that happened with me. Kunal just made the decision for her that oh you can't attend corporate events because you wear glasses acha nahi lagta same way I have succumbed to the pressure of wearing contacts for events. I get why Misthi didn't speak up she was completely blindsided and she was still trying to process and she only snubbed Abhir to actually snub her conscious too which was protesting against what Kunal did. Also how quickly Kunal got angry. Looking at all his traits I feel bad that Kuhu will end up with him he is so controlling. It's a sincere request please create a positive environment for us plain looking, simply dressed glasses wearing girls we are humans too please treat us like one and accept us for who we are.

Sincerely

A glasses wearer

Really sorry to hear about what you had to go through. It sucks but that's how it works. It has always been and will always be like that unless we chabge our mindset. Ty for sharing tour experience.

Hello, sorry to hear ur story. But my story is little different from urs.

I have been wearing glasses since my engineering days. It's been more than 9 years now.My friends n colleagues call me Chashmist. Guys also wear specs, but this chashmist name is made only for girls.(i dont know why😡) I cant wear contact lense for more than 3-4 hours,i get itching sensations. But i consider myself lucky that so far my parents and my family members have never pointed out about my chashmist looks. Not sure about my future husband though.

I really like Mishti's plain look with normal make up.On a day to day life we girls look like her only.kabhi kabhi ishse bhi kharab dikhte hei. It would be really interesting to see Mishti's journey from here onwards.

It should be an individuals call to wear glasses or get surgery done . Not the relatives or fiance or husband or any xyz. I am wearing glasses since class 5 . And i still wear it..i refused to wear contacts as they irritated my eyes..n i dont want surgery bec my number keeps changing..i wear it all the time but not in weddings . And half of the people think i am a snob bec i didnt say hi..but i couldnt see them only..its ok i dun have a problem with anyonez thinking 😆

Aww🤗I'm a fellow speccy. Let me hug you out . wish could do that in real.

That tumhe speech deni padegi was way outta line. I somehow agreed with the idea that he thinks that its a permanent solution rather than having specs repaired everytime.

Oh trust me when i say this yes people are full of who would judge by your appearances but you have to stick it out for those who don't.

I have tried to change my appearance, I have felt lesser in my teens but i outgrew it now. I think it happened when one of my friend said that i'm way fine the way I am.

I always believe in if you want to do something the reason behind has to be for you.

Trust me i have specs for almost 15 years now. I am surrounded with people who want me to have lasik and I have been 'told to wear contacts for functions. I just can't. I tried , it doesn't suit me, I moved on. I almost had my eyes gone for good because of contacts once. 😆

They do casually mention when I'll be getting married, I'll have one. I wont be having photographs wearing spectacles. (I cant imagine not wearing something comfortable during my own wedding) They'll be in for surprise.

TBH specs are my part of life now. The one who really loves you would be happy to see you no matter what at the end of the day. I feel like an old person right now

I wish there was a button for 'love' to hit on your post. Family, friends, society and women themselves literally waste most of their time and life trying to look as per some set standards. Movies and TV shows are full of women who look the same, all glammed up dolls.

So, I was surprised when I first saw Mishti with specs and was sure that in a few episodes she'd have a 'makeover' and get contacts. So glad this track has been introduced.

I don't give a damn about what others think. Many women love to apply tons of chemicals on their face, maybe coz they don't like what they look like or so that others appreciate them or maybe that they genuinely like to apply makeup. While some don't even use lipstick and are perfectly fine with it.

The day women get the confidence and don't live their life on the basis of cosmetic companies, half of them will go out of business.

Family plays a very important role in giving girls the confidence and strength to not fall in the trap and have a befitting reply if someone is stupid enough to comment on your looks.

It's easy to get influenced by peer pressure and make wrong decisions. I had almost gone for lasik bcoz of what my friends used to say, thankfully the doc told me to wait for a couple of years and then do it. By then, I realized that I don't need to get rid of glasses just to please others. I proudly wear specs and will continue to do so. If someday I do go for contacts or surgery, it'll be bcoz I want to not to please anyone else or fit in the box people want women to fit in.
