Namaste guys!
Kunal has always been portrayed as a sorted, calm guy who is very dependable and his mother's favourite.

People think he is mature and would make for a great partner and even that he is too good for Kuhu who is seen as immature.

Wouldn't any girl be lucky to marry him?

Well, If I were asked, I would say no to marrying Kunal.

Why, you ask?

For me, traits I value the most in people are the abilities to recognise right from wrong AND speak up for what they believe in.

There's a reason why Abir calls him a robot- Kunal is fully functional and a great guy from the perspective of an outsider but he has a lot of unresolved issues.

The first is his blind love and devotion for his Mommy Meenu. This absolute devotion means that everything she does is right and she can do no wrong (in his eyes). Loving someone does not mean ignoring their faults or enabling their bad behaviour. Granted, he may not know about some of Meenakshi's schemes but he was definitely present for her other 'performances'- like the one where she insulted Kuhu and said she wants Mishti for him, all without consulting him.

It's not that Abir does not love Meenakshi. He opposes her while also loving her. Kunal cannot be so unaware, surely? Abir himself told Kunal about how Meenakshi engineered the police drama and the rishta exchange.

At this point, Kunal is being remote controlled by Meenakshi, so is he really mature enough to be married? If Kuhu is childish, Kunal is wilfully ignorant to his family's issues. Both of them have some growing up to do.

I do like KuKu together and want to see them grow but at the same time, do not want to see a mute Kunal standing by while Meenakshi slanders Kuhu, Abir and Mishti. I would rather KuKu not be together if Kunal is not able to stand up for Kuhu, considering Meenakshi already dislikes the Maheshwari girls.

Really hope we get more of an insight into Kunal's heart and mind. I also want him to start realising how much Meenakshi manipulates him. He has a good heart and just needs to find his tongue 😆

I disagree somewhat here.
Kunal does stand up to his mom when he told her she was wrong doing the switch of the girls. He doesn't show his disagreement in front of the Maheshwaris. The thing is because it was done for him he feels responsible & wants to make things right.
He did ask her if she called the police but she did manipulate the whole story & she shed a few tears.
You have to agree that both boys are suckers for her tears!
He's certainly not like the son from sns who was his mother's puppet.

Kunal seems to have shut down his emotions, maybe he was always like that or he became like that after his breakup, maybe he is in the phase that since i made one wrong decision for myself let me allow my mother to take all my decisions from now on...

The first is his blind love and devotion for his Mommy Meenu. This absolute devotion means that everything she does is right and she can do no wrong (in his eyes). Doesnt seem like he is willfully ignorant... He is just plain ignorant, when meenu very smartly manipulated ketki into agreeing for the marriage by bringing up past issues kunal didnt understand his moms manipulations, he genuinely thought ketki agreed of her own free will and said so the same to abir... Kunal is unable to understand his mothers machinations and always gives her the benefit of doubt...

He has to first realise his own heart to give it a tounge...he cant understand his own fondness for kuhu and that it was her words which brought him out of his being stuck in the past, he cant understand his own heart that he actively keeps seeking moments to talk to her while ignoring mishti... By the time he realises it might be too late coz by then kuhu will realise his true personality is not the confident sports car she thought he was but that he is actually a guy who blindly follows his mom... That will be the jhatka for him when kuhu will show him the mirror and then his character will develop...

What say?

Interesting perspectives, guys.
I think 'wilfully ignorant' was the wrong choice of words. He is ignorant and naive to his mother's manipulation but honestly, till what time can you be that way?

I mean, he said that he is caught between Abir and Meenakshi. Although Abir said jokingly that you should pick a side, I actually think Kunal needs to.

Even KuShti who have not known Meenu for long can tell what she is like. Everyone can. What will it take for Kunal to realise how mommie dearest is? Abir, his beloved brother always lets Meenakshi's true intentions be known to him but Kunal ignores it. Seems like he has an ostrich in the sand syndrome.

I agree that he has sort of switched off his feelings to prevent himself from being hurt after the Shweta incident. He just does not want his feelings involved. Hope Kuhu is able to help him get over this and yeah, her vision of him as this handsome man who has his life together will be vanquished pretty soon.

Mishti has the better deal when it comes to the Rajvansh boys 'cause I am skeptical about Kunal standing up for Kuhu. Abir's love for his mother is not blind.

Yeah agree kunal wont easily stand up for kuhu against meenu maa but maybe that is his character arc - the guy who finally gets over his blind love for his mother due to his falling in love n opening his eyes...
About abir not having a blind love for his mother that is so super refreshing as a quality in a ML... but his character arc probably involves him becoming more trusting of meenu when the truth about past is revealed whatever that truth is regarding his father, same for meenus character arc she too will develop into being more soft n trusting towards abir... maybe mishti will bring about this change in abir n meenu

Agree with you. Kunal's character arc will probably be about learning to step out of his mother's shadow and think for himself.

Abir- Honestly, I am so happy he is not a maa da laadla. 😆 As you said, too many MLs on TV who have blind faith in their mothers and families. For now, Meenu hasn't done anything for Abir to be trusting of her. She is even worse than he imagines.

Meenu is totally unlikeable right now. 😡 I think her redemption will come when she realises her approach is keeping her family from being happy.
