Armaan couldn't understand how Abhira could love him because he's always felt that he isn't worthy of love, so when someone had unconditionally fallen in love with him, despite his poor behavior towards her, it was so alien to him. It was like her forgotten all those times he'd been incredibly good to her as well.

Also people forget that during their divorce hearing, Abhira explicitly told him that she hates him and his family, which was why she lied in court. He genuinely beloved her, because even in his wildest dreams he could not imagine Abhira lying for any other reason like what he found out later. That is why when she confessed, he was so confused because none of it added up in his head. His assumptions were blown apart and in that second he just could not comprehend that after everything his family & he had done to her and after everything she told him, how could she have developed the feelings of love for him of all people.

I've always like the character Armaan he stays consistent with his feelings. Armaan "love is a person who touches your soul" and that what he wanted and got his True Love

Armaan as a character has his fans mainly because he is truly someone who can go to any extent for the people he loves. But will never expect them to give it back. That's why Ruhi not choosing him didn't affect him, Kaveri calling him names was accepted by him and the rest of the house picking and choosing when to love him or when to call him paraya was something that he assumed came with the "Poddar" family & surname he tagged to his name.

That's why Abhira loving him made him realise that he can also demand from someone. He can also take someone for granted. He can also have expectations from someone other than himself. People who say that Abhira became a doormat for Armaan don't realise that those 2 are really the only family for the other. Like Abhira knew that if she gave up on their relationship, Armaan will hold on to their rishta till she comes around, Armaan also hoped that Abhira will do the same for him. The way Abhira allowed her anger to take over her decision making capacities, Armaan did the same. But both understood when the other realised their mistake because for both of them, they were truly the only people they could expect that pyaar with no shartein.
