The audience has always been misogynist and regressive. In India particularly people become less misogynist only if the woman is the perfect submissive doormat like Anupama and Abhira. Then they may feel bad for them and want some good for them but that’s only until they stay in their place which is under the husband’s feet or in-laws feet. But if a woman is out spoken, realistic or have any slight shade of grey like Ruhi and others then they deserve the worst even though the same audience will love, justify and forgive anything for men who are much worse like Armaan, RK, Arnav, etc.

It's not as if Abhinav's 'caste' and how he was 'too good to be true' for an 'orphaned' person. Or how Akshara was a jamwali and him a driver, weren't dissected in online fandoms dominated by youngsters who supposedly watch these shows for the love story and not drama like the so-called 'trp aunties'. Just a few weeks back people here were posting about how Abhir, being disabled, was being selfish to the abled Charu. As if disabled people have no right to have romantic feelings or companionship.As if disabled people are a different breed altogether. Most of these pathetic talking points were not even part of narrative of the show. Let alone the normalisation of patriarchal abuse that actually is part of the narrative.

After the first season, this show has progressively been more and more trashier. All Shahi shows are regressive, mock modern women, are generally shitty. The online discourse feeds off it and makes it even more hateful and shittier.

Who the hell cares about legitimacy? Any asshòle making a child feel unwanted is trash. (And, just on technicality that means absolutely nothing morally or legally, Ruhi and Rohit are married. By definition, their child is legitimate). It is a useless technicality — every human being is legitimate by the virtue of being human lol. It is disgusting to debate this for any reason let alone a fanwar.
