There is need for power balance between both couples. Rohit is dadi's favorite armaan is not. Reveal abhira's identity & elevate her status in dadi's eyes. Both rohit & abhira almost equal for dadi. Let armaan be the outsider for her & ruhi ko demote karo thoda sa.

With the constant indications they keep shoving about Kaveri and Abhira being similar people, I always thought that her becoming Kaveri's favorite ( at least for a short period) would be the most obvious narrative choice also, I feel Rohit can be a better gray/negative character than Ruhi, cause he is more unpredictable. Ruhi ki sui toh ek jagah he atki hoti hain.

Exactly, armaan ko dadi apni heir nahi maanti in poddar firm. Abhira & rohit are professionally equal. Agar abhira dadi ki favorite ho gayi toh she can be threat to phuphasa's aim. He can train rohit & armaan can mentor abhira. Armaan ko waise bhi phuphasa ke methods pasand nahi hain. Professional war dikha sakte hain phuphasa rohit vs armaan abhira & ghar mein ruhi ki insecurities... Bahut saara drama mil sakta hain.
