Its not about playing dad, its about not being the lead. Why would an actor like harshad or pranali play side roles once their children becomes lead !

they should cast others in their place and take a leap.

He isn't the salman khan of television because evidently he doesn't have that autonomy.

He is 40. Thinking from the actor's point of view, he wouldn't like to play the onscreen dad of another 30 year fellow , especially when he himself is able to bag lucrative roles as a male lead . He would start doing mature roles , when that will be the only option left . As for pranali , according to itv standards regarding female actresses age , she still has 4-5 years in which she can get female lead roles.

And Hina Khan revealed her regret for doing that ( for doing same role for many years). Besides everyone know the rules are different for actors. Currently actors in their 40s are paired with actresses in their 20s. I think pranali should also leave the show of harshad is leaving, or think about double role like pavitra rishta season 3. She is in her prime time.
