Don't forget they are pretty old in terms of the story😆...and elderly people are more interested in their body aches/pains, reading religions tracts, sleeping, 😆...I guess writers just decided to show them oblivious rather than all that.... But also, true to life, in generational gap there is a huge misbelief in how to raise kids and what they need. Each generation is different and it may be they think she is grown up, our job is done and dust their hands! whereas we know there is more needed.
