Before I begin the topic I wanted to bring up after todays mahaepisode, let me introduce myself as this is my first post.
Hello! My name is Kajol, I am not new to this site but I am new to this show and forum, I have never watched this show before, until the third generation. The cast seems more interesting, and pre-leap I know it would have been hard for me to grasp the show and its characters.
So with that being said, let me get into some of the Birla family members.
My favorite character is Mahima, she really has some complexities to her, unlike the other characters where you see where they stand in their typical ITV characters. Mahima loves her sister but also wants to gain power in family matter and the hospital. Like with Akshara and Aarohi it is clear as day which sister is portrayed as holier than thou, and which one is going to be shown as the negative character which will go more gray as the show progresses. (This type of sister duo goes is replayed over and over in ITV, also in Udaariyaan on Colors.) So unlike Aarohi, Mahima is not mean to her sister but discreetly plays the long game for her own selfish reasons. But as then Mahima also seems like she genuinely wants her nephew Abhimanyu to be happy with who he loves? I also loved that she put her brother in law in place in today's mahaepisode.
Moving on to Harsh, I wish the creatives had made Harsh a MBA guy since he is so into business instead of a Ph.D that would make more sense about his whole PR, and hospital reputation that oozes out of his body. Also we need to acknowledge that this man is abuser. All he does is verbally abuse not only his family members BUT other people!!! If I were in Dada Manish's shoes, I would not want my granddaughters to be married into a toxic family like this one. Harsh tries to manipulate Aarohi and he abuses Akshara. Let's say Akshara (since we all think something is going to happen at the wedding where those two get married) does marry into this family, and Harsh starts berating her and Abhimanyu is not there, what then?
No grandfather who has had to raise his grandkids because his children, their parents have passed should not hand his granddaughter (Lord, which ever one is marrying into that family) off to a toxic family like that one where she will only get a mother's love and a husband's love, those girls deserve better in-laws.
Parth is so toxic! (Wait, is it Parth, I don't even know, Mahima and Anand's son) That whole shouting match with his wife about her being too career-oriented and doing home duties, like dude, you don't even do anything so why don't you be the stay-at-home partner? But again this is ITV and nothing has changed in the past decade so why would they start cutting out their misogynistic tracks now and implement some more progressive thinking?
If you have made it this far down my rant, wow, thank you for reading, but now I have a question for you,
I am based in the US and our medical school system works differently here, so what exactly is a M.B.B.S?
In the US it goes, you do a select number of years of undergraduate schooling (it is usually 4, but it depends on how long it takes you to complete your bachelors), then you apply for graduate school which is 4 years to achieve an M.D.
So Aarohi has completed her M.B.B.S., so now she is a doctor but she is not an M.D.? Is the M.B.B.S. like a middle ground?
Thank you for reading, and please share your comments, thoughts, and concerns!
