Part 3

Since it was Karthik's birthday, the Goenkas went to the Mandir, which they go every year on this occasion since Karthik was born. Being the closest mandir that too of Karthik's best friend Krishna he loved coming here every week with Dadi.

Naira and Karthik have some work in that area so when they are completed they decide to pay a visit to the temple.

"kya hua, itna muskura kyun rahe ho", questioned Naira

" jab bhi iss mandir mein aata hun, iss dil ko ajeeb sa sakoon milta hai", he said still smiling.

Karthik and Naira went in front where the murti was, they were standing right beside the Goenkas, but shut their eyes for praying so no one noticed each other. Since Goenkas had come a bit earlier, they finished praying first, as they turned to leave they saw Karthik standing beside them.

"Karthik", they all whispered softly under their breaths. Manish was about to touch Karthik's shoulder but stopped himself. The family moved away from that place not wanting Karthik to see them.

"Humara Kittu, humare ankhon ke samne hai, aur hum usse galle bhi nahi lagga sakte", said Dadi sadly.

"Maaji dekhiye woh ladki jo Karthik ke saath hai, mujhe lagta hai wohi Naira hai", commented Surekha.

"Dekhiye ne Maa kitne khush lagg rahe dono, khas kar humara Karthik, kitne pyaar se dekh raha hai Naira ko, hum toh uski kushi chate hai Aur woh kush hai", said Akhilesh.

Just then Karthik who was so busy in admiring his beautiful girl, burnt his hand as he didn't know that the pandit had bought the pooja ki thali for him to take arti and accidentally brushed his hand on the fire slightly.

The Goenkas panicked seeing this and were about to go closer to Karthik, but stopped as they saw Naira sweetly scolding him for being so careless.

"Naira am okay kuch bhi nahi hua hai, bas thoda brush ho gaya jala nahi", said Karthik

"Toh jala nahi, jal sakta tha, tum dhyaan nahi rakh sakte kuch ho jatta pata hai kitna dard hota", she asked

"Kisse dard hota mujhe ya tumhe", he questioned and she just hugged him.

"Ab humein Karthik ki fikar karne ki zarorat nahi", said Suvarna and the family nodded with a smile leaving the temple.

Few days later it was Naitik and Akshara's anniversary, the families had a gathering, Karthik and Naira did a small play on Akshara and Naitik's married life journey. Since it was pretty late Akshara requested that they all stay at Singhanias for the night.

It was late night everyone but Karthik was peacefully asleep, the boy kept turning his body sometimes towards the left sometimes towards the right.

He could see blurred images flash in front of his shut eyes, images of young child being slapped and whipped by a woman, the images were too unclear, he could neither notice the woman's face nor make out if the child was a boy or a girl but every time the whip touch the child he felt as if he had been hurt.

All of a sudden he got up and looked around to see all the family sleeping around him, he quietly got up and went outside not wanting to disturb anyone.

These nightmares hadn't been new to him he had got them previously many times as well but had never been able to get their meaning or recognize the people, but these nightmares always instilled a mysterious sort of fear in him. It gave him a terrible feeling from the inside.

It was early morning when Naira's eyes opened, she was about to shut them again, when she saw everyone was still in bed, but then she noticed Karthik missing, so she get up and looked around the house but couldn't find him. Then she went outside and saw Karthik outside his back against the wall his face rest on his knee, Naira lifted his face up so now they could see it clearly, there were tear stains. Naira shook him awake, he opened his eyes and noticed that it was red and puffy.

"Karthik kya hua", Naira asked lovingly

"Kuch bhi nahi, bas ek burra sapna", Karthik answered

"Sirf ek sapne ke liye you had tears, woh jo bhi hai sirf ek sapna hai", Naira said.

"Kuch sapne aise lagte hai, jaise woh haqeqat ka hissa ho.", Karthik replied

"Haqeqat jaise laggte hai, doesn't mean it is real, don't think about it too much.", Naira said and gave him a side hug.

Karthik nodded positively and gave her a forced smile, Naira noticed a fear and pain in Karthik's eyes, she knew he still was not convinced. Naira wrapped around her arms more tightly and Karthik did the same, pressing her as tight as he could to keep her as close as possible to his heart. Naira could feel tears falling on her forehead, she was getting disturbed seeing that a nightmare made this state of Karthik.

It was late morning everyone was up and finished their breakfast

"Suvarna Ma'am, aap yaha", said Karthik running to the lady at the Singhania door and hugging her.

"Kaise ho mera bacha", Suvarna said ruffling his hair, to which he gave a cute smile. Naira was happy seeing this as Karthik was lost and sad since she had woken him.

Karthik introduced Suvarna to Naira, then to the whole family.

"Aap ne Karthik ko bahut ache sanskar diye hai", said Devyani

"Aur bahut sarra pyaar bhi, Karthik ne batiya", added bhabhima

"Bahut pyaar diya hoga, magar Karthik uss se bhi zyada pyaar ke haqdaar tha. Jab Karthik ko sab se zyada zarorat thi uske pass nahi thi. Humesha Karthik se jhoot bola ke uski family nahi hai. Massi hun uski, woh bhi saach chipiya usse. Lekin sab sirf issi liye kyun ke darr lagta hai, aaj bhi mujhe sab ki baatein yaad hai, mein ne toh sirf woh sarri baatein sunn kar bardasht nahi kar payi, lekin Karthik ne who sab saha tha.", thought Suvarna as she emotionally looked at Karthik while she was lost in her thoughts

"Suvarna ji, Kya hua kaha kho gayi app", asked Akshara

"Kuch nahi bas aise hi", answered Suvarna, but Naira felt that there was something Suvarna was hiding, she noticed the soft loving looks full of yearning, Suvarna passed Karthik. It reminded her of the ones Akshara gave her when she had been angry and was maintaining distance from Akshara.

Suvarna left within an hour, saying that she had a train to catch, Karthik offered to drop her to the railway station but she denied. Naira felt something very fishy as she didn't understand why would Suvarna not take the opportunity of spending more time with Karthik.

Something in her heart told her to follow Suvarna, so she made some excuse and left the house, making sure Suvarna doesn't notice her, she noticed that Suvarna's rickshaw stopped near a huge Villa. She waited for Suvarna to go inside.

"Bhaiya yeh ghaar kiska hai", she asked the guards.

"Goenkas", one of the men replied in a formal tone.

"Aur yeh Suvarna ji, kaun hai", she questioned

"Malkin hai, Manish saab ki patni, unki dusri patni", said the guard.

Naira was shocked because Karthik had said Suvarna was unmarried had no family, except the orphanages she owned. She knew Karthik didn't lie, so she wanted to know why Suvarna lied to Karthik.

"Why are you talking to strangers about all this", scolded the other.

"Madam aap jaiye yaha se please", the other guard told Naira

"Aap andar jaiye aur apni Suvarna malkin se khiye ke Naira ayi huyi hai, unhe bahut sarre sawalon ka jawab chaiye", said Naira.

The guard did as he was told. The family members were taken aback that Naira was here. They got to know that Naira knew that Suvarna was Manish's wife and Suvarna knew that Karthik must have told Naira that Suvarna is unmarried and has no family, they realized if they send Naira back it is only going to raise more questions and maybe she could even bring Karthik here, so they asked the guard to get Naira in. The only way out now was to tell Naira the truth.

Flashback continues

"Police", Manish called out. Manish had already called the police on the way and ask them to wait outside until he got a confession from Radhika. Few lady constables caught Radhika so that she isn't able to run.

"Kya kiya tum ne uss chotte se bacche ke saath, bolo kaha chuppa kar rakha hai", questioned the officer.

"Haar room ki talashi lo, khass tor par inn madam ki", said the officers to his constables and sub inspector.

"Tum logg iss auraat ki talashi lo", the officer said to the lady constables holding Radhika.

The lady constables found her phone but there was nothing in that. The other constables came with a phone they had found hidden under a false board in Radhika's room but it was password protected.

Radhika was sent to jail as the police had already heard how she blackmailed the Goenka. They then sent the phone so that they could use the technology they have and get the details inside. After couple of hours they get some contacts which have been used frequently and track the numbers down. Manish and Akhilesh went with the police, while dadi stayed home and continuously prayed for her Kittu along with Kirti and Suvarna.

The police team and the two male Goenkas, entered into an old looking abandoned house that seemed to be in the middle of a barren land at the outskirts of the city. The place reeked of strong alcohol, there were bottles lying all over, the contents were even spilled on the floor, but not a sign of a single soul, they so a door at the end of the room, they slowly pushed it open the police standing in front with guns in case the bad guys inside if any were armed. They opened the door and stepped in. What they say shocked each and everyone. Lying on a bed was the still body of a boy, bare and brutally bruised. Everyone stayed still and shocked for a couple of minutes, Manish felt his legs go weak, he stood with difficulty using the door. Akhilesh supported him and tried to make him stand, slowly together the walked towards the child silently hoping it wasn't their Karthik. The child was lying in his back so his face wasn't visible, his whole back was filled with cuts, slashes filled with dried blood, and some still seemed fresh, one of the officers gently turned over the boy. Manish broke down seeing his son's face which was now almost unrecognizable all beaten up, a black eye and a bleeding lip, his front body deeply wounded like the back. Akhilesh made Manish handel himself, they police took away the drunk men while Manish and Akhilesh admitted Karthik to the hospital.

Manish and Akhikesh were at the hospital waiting for the doctors to respond. They didn't inform anything at home, they kept on making excuses when calls came from Dadi or Surekha.

Hours later the doctor walked out.

"Doctor mera beta kaise hai", asked Manish

"We won't give any false hopes Mr. Goenka, his condition is very critical. There isn't a part of his body that isn't wounded and also there are older marks on his body, I don't think those could be only 4 days old, he has been subjected to torture for years. The worst part he has also been sexually assaulted. His survival chances are low but we will try are very best.

It was late evening when the doctor came out again.

"I am sorry Mr. Goenka but your son has slipped into coma", announced the doctor.

"Manish hum puch rahe hai kaha hai humara Kittu lene gaye the tum usse.", asked Dadi

"Akhilesh aap hi kuch bataye", questioned Surekha but all that they got was silence.

"Papa kaha hai mera Bhai", questioned Kirti

The silence was broken as an ambulance siren sounded, the siren stopped after a while and minutes later they saw a stretcher being bought in, with Karthik lying on it. Dadi, Kirti and Surekha ran to the stretcher, their eyes filled with tears looking at Karthik's condition.

"Jawab do kya hua hai humare pote ko", asked dadi.

"Maa please inhe phele Karthik ko andar le janne dijiye, hum sab batayenge", said Akhilesh. Karthik was taken in and all equipment set.

Akhilesh told them everything and then how they decided to bring Karthik home.

"Manish", Dadi called out shaking his shoulders

"Maa mera Karthik, dekhiye ne kya halath ho gayi hai uski. Unse kya galti, woh toh kehta raha ka ke Radhika ek achi insan nahi hai, hum ne uss par vishwas nahi kiya, humari galti phir usse sazza kyun.", cried Manish

A year or so later

Manish was sitting with Karthik who laid on the bed. Like every Sunday morning he was talking to his son, apologizing for not trusting him. But the difference today was when he took Karthik's hand in his he felt a movement, he looked down and indeed what he felt was true, he called for the family and the nurses who were appointed for Karthik, who informed the doctor. The family and nurses were gathered in the room in minutes. Manish was holding onto Karthik's hand. Slowly Karthik opened his eyes, he then got into a sitting position with a start, pulling his hand away from Manish.

"Bachao bachao, please mujhe mat marro, mere qareeb mat anna, aaa", Karthik continued to scream and beg not to hurt or touch him. If anyone tried to come closer he screamed louder, tired from all the screaming he slipped into unconsciousness, this worried the family.

The doctor arrived and checked Karthik

"Mr. Goenka, Karthik is out of danger, but hearing what you all had to say the torture and sexual assault had a terrible effect on Karthik's brain, for years he had been tortured in his own house between his own family, then for four days he was brutally, whipped, cut and raped. He is broken completely on the inside, he thinks whoever comes close to him is going to hurt him, he needs love, patience and care to be healed", spoke the doctor.

Naira crumpled to the floor, breaking down into tears. Suvarna went down by her.

"Karthik ne mujhe kuch kya nahi batiya, kya mein iss liyak nahi ke mein uska dard bant sakun.", she spoke choking on her words.

"Jisse khud kuch yaad ho, woh batayega tumhe kuch", spoke Kirti sitting by her, taking Naira into a hug.

"Coma se nikalne ke baad, Karthik ki halath bahut burri thi, woh hosh mein aate hi cheekne chillane lagta tha, kuch mahine aisa hi chale gaye, aur phir Maasi ayi", said Kirti

"Mein UK gayi huyi thi apni medical ki padhayi ke liye, mein tab gayi the jab Karthik 3 saal ka tha, 6 saal ke baadh meri padhayi purri hogayi, phir Maa, papa ne kaha ke mein kuch waqt wahan hi apni practice shuru karun. Yaha jo kuch bhi ho raha tha kissi ne mujhe kuch nahi batiya, Di ke death, Karthik ke saath jo kuch bhi ho raha tha, kissi ne mujhe kuch nahi batiya. Mujhe shak honne lagga ke kuch toh hai jo sab mujh se chuppa rahe hai", spoke Suvarna.

"Suvarna ke saath Karthik thoda sa calm honge lagga, woh usske saath bhi kuch bolta nahi tha magar woh panic bhi nahi karta tha, dheere dheere 6 mahine woh ghar ki sarri auraton ke saath shanth hota, lekin jaise kissi admi ko dekhta wohi darr wohi chikna chilana", told Manish.

"Inn 6 mahino mein logg Suvarna ke Goenka Villa mein rehne par barien bannane lagge, issi liye hum ne Manish aur Suvarna ko shaadi kar di", said Dadi

"Phir ek din Karthik sidyon se gir gaya, uske sarr par bahut gherri chot laggayi jiss ki wajhe se usse kuch bhi yaad nahi raha. Kissi ke liye bhi apni sarri yadein kho dena ek shraap hi sakta hai, lekin Karthik ke liye woh ek blessing thi", said Surekha

"Doctors ne kaha ke Karthik ki yaadein wapas ajayengi jab woh apni family apne ghar mein rahega, hum sab yeh nahi chate the, iss liye hum ne Karthik ki zindagi ko purri tarhe badal dala, hospital se usse Delhi orphanage le jaya gaya aur usse yeh jhoot kaha ke woh bachpan se waha hi rehta tha", said Akhilesh

"Magar hum Karthik ko purri tarhe akele bhi nahi chod sakte the, issi liye mein ne orphanage ko join karne ka faisla kiya", said Suvarna

"Please Karthik ko kuch nahi batana, woh sab kuch purri tarhe se bhul chukka hai, hum nahi chate ke usse kuch bhi pata chale", requested everyone as Naira her head positively, still not able to speak much and was in deep shock after listening to the whole truth.

As Naira walked back to Singhania Sadan she dashed into someone, she looked up and saw her mendak.

"Naira kya hua tumhe, tum ro rahi thi, jhoot mat bolna tumhare chere se hi saach pata chal raha hai", asked Karthik cupping her face. Naira immediately wrapped her arms around him.

"Naira please tell me what is wrong", pleaded Karthik

"Karthik woh...woh", Naira stammered

"Haan bolo, woh kya", asked Karthik

"Dance Academy mein kuch problems arahi hai, mein papa ka sapna toh purra kar paungi, bas wohi soch rahi thi", Naira lied as tears rolled down.

"Arre itni si baath don't worry hum sab mil kar manage karenge", Karthik assured Naira wiping her tears.

"Hum mil kar sab kuch thik kar denge", said Naira with a smile

"Haan Karthik jo hua tumhara past tha, bahut seh liya tum ne, ab tumhare future mein, mein kissi ko bhi tumhe taqleef phaunchane nahi dungi, tumhare there par humesha smile rahegi", Naira promised to herself as she wrapped her arms around Karthik and laid her head on his chest.

Everyone found Naira a bit lost and upset. Akshara questioned her about the matter but she lied in reply.

"Akshara tumhe Naira kuch khoyi khoyi nazar nahi arahi hai", asked Devyani.

"Haan choti maa, aur mein ne Naira as pucha bhi ke usse koyi pareshani toh nahi, lekin uss ne manna kar diya", said Akshara.

"Shayad Bff aur Naira di ka jhagda ho gaya", commented Mishti

"Haan dono chotti chotti baton par ladete rehte hai", agreed Gayu

"I don't think ladayi huyi hogi, dono tom and jerry ki tarhe ladte hai, aise ghumsum, khoye huye said nahi bethe rehte. Ya unke ladne ka andaz nahi", said Karishma.

"Apas mein baath karne ke bajaye, Karthik ko hi call kar ke puch le te hai", suggested bhabhima.

Akshara called Karthik and he told her about Naira informing him about some problems coming in the dance academy set up. Akshara then called the team which was working with Naira, to ask them about the problem but they replied to her that there wasn't any and all formalities are going smoothly.

"Kya hua bahu, Karthik ne kya kaha", questioned bhabhima.

"Karthik ke baad tum kiss se baath kar rahi thi", asked Devyani

"Bhabhi aap pareshan lagg rahi hai", spoke Karishma

"Koyi jhagda nahi hua hai, dance academy mein kuch problems arahi thi, issi liye Naira preshan hai, lekin mein ne Naira ke saath kaam karne wali team se baath ki, unho ne kaha sab kuch sort out ho chuka hai", Akshara answered everyone

"Naira ne Karthik se jhoot kyun bola", Akshara thought to herself.

"Rani bitya tum yaha, andar aajao ", Nani exclaimed happily seeing Naira at the door.

Naira and the family spoke for some while. They noticed her eyes searching for something.

"Naira di aap Karthik bhaiya ko dhund rahe ho", asked Kuhu in a teasing tone.

"Sorry di, Karthik bhaiya abhi tak office se nahi hai, aap ko humse hi baath karni hogi", teased Nannu as well

"Waise Karthik abhi ajata hai office se", said Varsha, hearing that Naira got tensed for a moment.

"Karthik ne janne se phele khaa tha ke aaj usse anne mein thodi si der ho jayegi", Nani informed and Naira sighed in relief.

"Lo agaya Karthik", said Vishambar looking at the door.

Karthik gave a smile and greeted everyone. Then went upstairs, rajshri nani saw Naira's haze following Karthik.

"Karthik se milne ayi ho, toh yaha kyun rukki ho, upar jao aur mil kar ao", Nani whispered into Naira's ears.

As Karthik was about to lock the door. It was pushed open and Naira entered. Before Karthik could anything Naira shut the door and held him firm as she could again the closest wall.

"Naira kya kar rahi ho tum, mere itne nazdek kyun ho", he asked

"Aise kyun puch rahe ho, kya tumhe acha nahi lagta jab mein tumhare pass hoti hoon. Tum chatte ho mein tum se dur jao", she asked innocently, just to tease him.

"Kissne kaha ke mujhe acha nahi lagta. Bahut acha lagta hai, complete sa feel hota hai, when you are with me. You know jab bhi school mein family ki baath hoti thi aur mein orphanage ko family kehta tha toh sab mazak udate the, mujh se yeh kaha jata tha ke orphanage family nahi hoti aur mera iss duniya mein koyi nahi hai, hurt hota tha, lekin tumhari wajhe se mujhe do families mil gayi. Thank you so much", He said taking her hands in his hands and kissing them, as tears rolled down both their eyes. Karthik wiped her tears and his own, then wrapped his hands around her.

"Am sorry Karthik mein tumhe rulana nahi chati thi, mein toh bas tumhe apna time aur pyaar dena chatti thi, woh time aur pyaar jo tumhe bachpan mein nahi mil paya", Naira spoke to herself.

"I love you so much Naira. Thank you Krishna ji, for giving me the love of my life", Karthik whispered to himself.

Kaira had gone out to have ice cream. Both were at the park enjoying their ice cream, feeding and talking to one another. When the notice a little kid surrounded by college going teens who seemed to be bullying the small kid. Naira went up to stop the teens while Karthik just sat there he could no more see that child and those teens surrounding. He saw another child, whose image was blurr, but he could recognize it as the child he always saw in his nightmares. Some men were around the kid, one man was shaking the child vigorously, seemed to to screaming and yelling, another one slapped the child and pushed him on the floor. The starting beating the child using whips.

When Naira turned her head after dealing with those teens, she was shocked to see Karthik's shivering. She ran to him and shook him, getting him to snap out of his daymare. His teary eyes locked with her concerned ones, he flung his arms around her bent his head and placed it at the crook of her neck. Naira could feel the wetness and realized that he was crying, she slowly patted his head trying to ask him what was wrong but he didn't respond. After a while he distanced himself and turning to other side wiped his face.

"Chalo ghar nahi janna hai kya", he said turning back to face her with a plastered smile.

"Nahi ja nna hai mujhe ghar", Naira said sternly

"Ab yeh natak mat karo ke kuch waqt phele tumhe kuch bhi na hua ho, tumhe pata hai tumhe aise kanmte rote dekh kar meri kya halat ho gayi.", She told him angrily but he understood the care behind her words.

"Karthik hum ek dusre se pyaar karte hai, ek dusre ki kushiyon aur dard par haq hai, please mujh se share karo kya hua hai tumhe, tumhare mann mein kya chal raha tha abhi jiss ne tumhe itna darra diya", she asked lovingly caressing his face.

Hesitating a bit at first he told her that he didn't remember anything much before him being 10 years, but he occasionally got these nightmare of a child being tortured and today he felt like those visuals were playing in front of his eyes.

"Tumhe pata hai Naira, jab uss bache ko marra jaata his mujhe bhi dard feel hota hai. I know tumhe yehi lag raha hoga ke mein bahut stupid hun jo ek sapne ke liye aise react kar raha hun", he said, Naira was a bit taken aback, understanding that his past memories were still somewhere there haunting him, she felt scared about his wounds opening up and breaking him again. She saw that Karthik was staring at her.

"Mujhe samajh nahi aata mujhe aise sapne kyun atte hai, magar hafte mein do teen baar Yeh nightmares aajate hai bina reason ke", Karthik told her.

"Nahi tum stupid nahi ho, dil ke bahut ache ho, issi liye ek anjan bache jo sirf tumhara sapna hai uske liye tumhe feel hua. Lekin ek sapne ke liye khud ko pareshan nahi karte", she tried to talk him out of being tensed or running after the dream. Karthik nodded his head positively and they smiled weakly at each other.

"Tum mujhe ek baath promise karoge", she asked looking at him in the eyes cupping his face caressing it lovingly. He nodded his head slightly to say yes.

"Jab bhi tumhe aise sapne ayenge you will talk to me about it. You won't keep anything pressed in your mind.", She said and he nodded his head positively.

Naira kept on twisting and turning. Sleep was far away from her, the days events kept running through her head. Her getting to know about Karthik's past, Karthik telling her about him always wanting a family, Karthik's nightmares.

"Karthik ki family hai, phir bhi woh apni purri zindagi tarasta gaya kissi ko apna parivar kehne ke liye. Uski bhayanak yadein aaj bhi uske mann mein kahi dafan hai, jo usse darata hai darr phaunchata hai. Ganga maiya mera mendak bahut acha hai, woh kabhi kissi ke saath burra nahi karta toh app ne uss ki zindagi mein itna dard kyun", she spoke looking above.

Part 7

Two weeks have passed by, Naira is trying to spend as much time she can with Karthik, she visits the office, started going to Maheshwari House every alternate day, she wants that Karthik's mind is only filled with their happy memories, that even his unconscious mind should not have a single image of his past. That even those little memories that are deep down causing those nightmares, should also be erased. Her attempts were being successful. In these two weeks Karthik had only once had those nightmares.

Naira had come to office, she went directly to Karthik's cabin since Naitik was at some meeting and Naksh was in Krishna. Entering the cabin silently she noticed that his face was turned to the other side, she slowly tip toed and wrapped her hands on his eyes from the back.

"Agayi Sherni", he said with a smile. Naira removes her hand. He turns around to see her pouting.

"Tum ne kaise jaan liya mein hun", she asked in a cute way.

"Tab hi jaan gaya tha jab tum ne yeh darwaza khola, tab hi ehsas ho gaya tha tumhare anne ka.", he said romantically.

"Acha", she questioned trying to smile

"Aur nahi toh kya, tumhari sansein tumhare dil ki dhadkan, tumhara saiya, tumhare kadmon ki ahat, sab ki pehchan hai mujhe", he said lovingly. Naira broke into a smile and kissed his cheeks and forehead.

"Yeh kyun", Karthik questioned.

"Bass tum par bahut pyaar araha tha", Naira answered smiling.

"Waise madam ko bahut zyada pyaar aaraha hai mujh par aaj kal. Itna time spend kar rahi ho, achanak se kya hogya. Waise jo bhi ho I am loving it, I want to spend each and every single moment of my life with you", he spoke bringing their faces close together, so that their nose and foreheads were touching.

"Mera boyfriend bahut pyaara hai, issi liye mujhe uss par bahut pyaar aata hai", she smiled and kissed his nose and then pressed it as if it was a button, he made a face and she giggled.

As they walked out of the office Kaira noticed a lady scolding a child. Naira recognized that lady as, the wife of their manager. When Kaira talked to them the got to know from the lady that she and her son had come shopping near by but then her son left all of a sudden without saying a word to meet his father and when she saw the boy missing she got worried. Kaira asked the child not to wander away like that and left.

Karthik entered Maheshwari House to find Varsha scolding Kuhu for getting bad scores in a test and the teachers complaints.

At night Karthik was remembering the office incident the lady and child, Varsha and Kuhu, though Varsha and that lady were right in their place still those things were very unsettling for him, he wasn't feeling good thinking about it. He could hear screaming and yelling in his head, things like you are useless, if you were not there my work would be easily done, he was not getting from where all these things are coming in his mind. He wasn't getting any sleep, he wanted to call Naira and talk to her let out whatever there is in his head but he saw that it was 2 am already so he decided against it not wanting to wake her.

Next day Karthik came to Singhania mansion to handover a file, since Naitik needed it urgently but wasn't able to come to office.

"Karthik kya hua tumhari ankhein laal kyun hai", questioned Naitik, Naira who was talking to Akshara standing close to the dining area heard Naitik and went up to Naitik and Karthik and noticed his red eyes.

"Kuch nahi hua sir bas kal raat need nahi ayi", Karthik said casually.

"Beta aise purr raat nahi jaggte, apna khyal rakhna", Akshara explained sweetly and Karthik gave her a smile.

"Papa mujhe academy ke kaam se janna hai tho Karthik ke saath chali jao", asked Naira

"Haan princess, Karthik tum usse le kar jao", Naitik said

"Karthik sab thek hai right", Naira asked during the bike ride.

"Haan aisa kyun phuch rahi ho", Karthik asked

"Phir kal raat neend kyun nahi ayi, kahi phir se nightmares, tum ne mujhe promise kiya ke tum mujhe bataoge", Naira said

"Nightmares anne ke liye sonna bhi zarrori hai lekin kal raat neend hi nahi aarahi thi", Karthik answered

"Toh wohi mein puch rahi thi", Naira said

"Woh kal jo kuch bhi hua", Karthik told Naira how yesterday's events kept roaming in his mind.

"Raat ko mujhe phone kyun nahi kiya", she asked

"Der ho chuki thi bohot tum so gayi hogi", Karthik replied

"Karthik gaadi roko", Naira ordered and he stopped, she got down

"Kya kaha uss din tum ne mujhe, bina baath ke pareshan nahi hoge agar kuch hai mujhe se share karoge, promise kiya tha. Aise nibhate ho apne promise. Agar mein tum se nahi puchti tho shayad tum an bhi nahi batate.", Naira said hurt

"Sorry ne mein bas itni raat ko bewajha tumhe uthana nahi chata.", he said sweetly

"Okay, but you will keep your promise", Naira said.

Naira reached home and immediately went to her room, though she didn't show it to Karthik she was extremely disturbed.

"Sab kuch itne acche se chal raha tha, Karthik ko nightmares kaam anne lagge, woh uss sab ke barien mein kam sochne lagga, lekin kal uss ne jo kuch bhi dekha, phirse past ki batein kahi na kahi yaad ayi", she spoke to herself.

"Kya karegi tu Naira, jitna waqt to uss ke saath spend kar sakti hai karegi, lekin duniya se usse kaise bachayegi, uss ke ass pass cheezien hongi jo uske adet ko uss ke samne laata rahega. Kya karogi tum, usse ghar par bandh kar nahi rakh sakti tum, kaise bachogi usse, kiss kiss se bachogi", her inner conscience asked.

"Mein karungi, jitna kar paun, protect karungi", she said to herself.

Time flew by it was nearly three months. Naira was always around Karthik as much as she could be, if they saw anything which she felt could revive his old memories even the slightest bit, she would divert his attention.

"Karthik beta ajao andar", Akshara said seeing Karthik at the door

Akshara smiled seeing Karthik looking all around

"Agayi tumhari Naira", Akshara said pointing at the staircase.

"Nehi ma'am mujhe aap se hi baath karni thi", Karthik said and Akshara gave him a look

"Actually sab se", Karthik said

"Aisa kya hua beta", Akshara asked

"Woh friends ne ek reunion party rakhi hai, jisme humein apne partner ke buliya hai, reunion Delhi mein hai. Agar app sab permission de aur Naira janna jahe", Karthik asked nervously.

Akshara looked at Naira and she blinked her eyes. Akshara asked the other family members in signs.

"Tum le ja sakte ho Naira ko", said Akshara.

"Haan lekin meri princess ka khyal rakhna", Naitik said.

"Mein bahut khyal rakhunga", Karthik assured.

It was the day of the reunion, though the reunion was in the evening, they had reached Delhi by noon as Naira wanted to visit the Ashram where Karthik was bought up and spend some time there. Karthik was very touched that she wanted to do that.

"Karthik bhaiya", a little girl yelled as Kaira walked in the orphanage doors. She ran and wrapped her arms around Karthik's knees. Karthik picked up the child and kissed her cheek.

"Bhaiya aap itne din baad aye apko pata hai sab ne apko bahut miss kiya.", said the girl

"Kanak, baqi sab kaha hai", asked Karthik

"Woh kahana kah rahe hai, mera finish hogaya tha", Kanak answered cutely

Kanak pushed Karthik's hand down indicating that she wanted to stand on the ground. She then went to Naira.

"Aap kaun hai", Kanak asked Naira.

"Yeh Naira Di hai", Karthik replied.

"Apki Di", Kanak asked and Karthik's eyes widened.

"Tumhari Di hai", he replied almost immediately..

"Di ya bhabhi", Kanak enquired.

"Apki honne wali bhabhi", answered Naira and Karthik smiled.

"Anjali, Sayali, Avanti Di, Kabir, Abhi, Shiva Bhai, sab ao Karthik bhaiya aye hai, humari honne walli bhabhi ke saath", Kanak screamed as loud as she could and almost immediately many kids came in and surrounded Kaira.

Kaira played and had a lot of fun with the kids.
