I think as a character, Ak would behave that way. The way she was brought up, the way RajShri had assigned blame on her (when her 1st rishta was rejected by guy), and many more instances clearly point that she was a docile person, strong but docile. As much as I wanted Ak to be more assertive in her initial days with Gayatri, I could understand where she came from and why she responded the way she did.
Similarly Naira, as a character displays another kind of strength. She is much more outspoken coz of her upbringing and her time away from home. So it's relatable when she expresses her thoughts in front of people more fearlessly. Like in the last ep when she K Dadi accuses her of sending Kartik to Singhanias. She puts forth her points very clearly. That went with the character. If (initially) Ak had done that, it wouldn't resonate with how she was always depicted.
About TRPs, I used to watch pre and post KaIra, and I am happy as long as the show keeps getting good TRPs coz like I have always said, this show actually has realistic characters and I love how the lead couple (both Nk-Ak and KaIra) always respect each other. Unlike other shows where the ML is just manhandling or insulting the FL.
