Which song?

Yes according to a letter that Naira read it can one solo and one couple dance is compulsory. Even when they were rehearsing, there was a part where Naira did a shote solo. So I don't know if solo and couple dance is together or two separate dances.

Karthik is not someone who would do something like that he knows how important the dance academy is for Naira, so I don't think he would lock kiran only based on annoyance or jealousy. I feel there is something more

Apparently, it was a "spur of the moment" thing according to this IV of Momo. He didn't want to sabotage anything. Impulsively kar liya because he thought it is a harmless thing to do.
