~~~~ Naira ~~~~
" no, no, no mumma." Naira muttered, shaking her head dismally. Akshara sighed exasperated, " beta, you look fabulous" she said sternly, folding her hands under her chest.
Naira frowned, scrutinising herself once more in the mirror, " are you - " before she could even say sure, there was a loud chorus
"YES"
Naira turned around sheepishly to find her family at the doorway, shaking their heads at her amusedly.
Still not convinced, Naira bit her lip, glancing at herself in the mirror. Her father smiled at her, walking over to her, he draped an arm over her shoulder and turned her to face the family, " you look beautiful, princess. It's time to go" he said.
Maybe no one else noticed the one second catch in Naitik's voice, when he told his darling daughter that it was time to go, but Akshara did. Smiling a bittersweet smile, she placed her hand on his, their eyes met, and Naitik nodded.
Beep. Beep.
Naira whirled around to find her phone. " lo aa gaya message" her brother chipped in and everyone around sniggered even as Naira blushed a deep red - her cheeks perfectly matching her special lehenga.
"Waiting for you"

They had arrived 30 minutes ago, and everyone around couldn't stop gushing over how beautiful she looked - everyone but him. Where was he?
Saying she was angry was an understatement, of the century.
She had tried to manually scan the room, she had also sent Mishti who had come back empty handed - Naira stomped her foot, " not done, Mr. Sethiya. Not done at all" she mumbled, leaning against the pillar, where she had sneaked off to in the pretext of missing anklets. Which were actually lost, by the way, but she wasn't looking for them now.
Thank god for Mishti. That kid was gold. She couldn't believe Mishti could hold off her entire family for 5 minutes, giving Naira some alone time.
" if you don't show up in 2 minutes, I am going to walk away from this engagement and never come back" she threatened, talking to no one in general, but knowing he was definitely around somewhere, probably watching her.
" really?" Naira straightened, feeling his warm breath against her back, " you don't want to come back, Ms. Singhania?" He teased, his voice amusement laden, " can you walk away?"
He challenged.
Still facing away from him, Naira smiled, " yes" she answered, failing dismally at keeping a straight voice.
He chuckled. Naira frowned - what did he think she was - putty in his hands? Now she was really angry. Frowning, she turned around to face him,
" then it will be my loss" he said, meeting her eyes.
All her anger melted - and so did she.
" oh!" she muttered, overwhelmed at how a man she had known for little over two weeks had this effect on her.
He was leaning on the pillar casually, the dark red dupatta flung casually over his shoulders. A sole dimple caressed his cheeks as he smiled at her, " you look beautiful, Naira" he said. His voice was a soft drawl, but it sent shivers straight down Naira's spine.
Blushing, she looked down, aware of his gaze still lingering on her.
" were you looking for something?"
yes, you! Was the instant answer, but since she couldn't say that, it took her mind a full minute to actually come up with an answer, " um - yes, my Payal"
" this one?" She looked up to see him holding up her anklet between his thumb and forefinger and shaking it before her face, the trinkles the only sound between them.
His mischievous grin and the twinkle in his eyes gave him away, " you!!" She exclaimed reaching for her anklet, and missing it. He was too quick for her, he quickly tucked it back inside his pocket, safely away from her reach.
" you really think Mishti could manage it all alone?" He said, raising his brows at her, referring to Mishti keeping her family at bay, giving Naira time to look for him.
She had been right - not being present from the beginning, her not being able to find her anklets, Mishti not being able to find him. She now had an inkling that Mishti had in fact found him, and had been instructed to send Naira to him. it was him all along - " why?" She asked.
He smiled and stepped closer to her, " I thought that would have been obvious" he said looking her straight in the eye..
Naira's breath caught in her throat, and her eyes fluttered shut, " Rudr!"
Coming up:
Naira looked down at her mehendi, " K?" She snapped at the mehendi waali, " it's R - my fiance's name is Rudr. R."
"But it is R" she replied, "cursive hai"
Naira frowned, "cursive? It looks like K. Change it"
