GEC Genre: Star Plus is back as No. 1 in Week 24

Star Plus has regained its number one position in the Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) genre in Week 24, according to the data provided by TAM Media Research data (C&S, 4+, HSM). It has added 20 GRPs from last week and its relative share stands at 23 per cent.
Star Parivaar Awards, which was aired on June 13 at 8 pm garnered a TVR of 5.7 to become the second most watched property on television in Week 24 by garnering a whooping 42 GRPs, which is more than several other GECs combined.
Colors is at No. 2, with a loss of 38 GRPs from last week and a drop in its relative share from 23 per cent to 20 per cent. Its Balika Vadhu show is ranked at No. 4 this week in the list of Top 10 most watched programmes. The movie, Chandni Chowk to China, which was aired on Colors, managed to rake in a TVR of 1.78.
Zee TV, at No. 3 position, has recorded 221 GRPs in Week 24, which is 14 GRPs less than last week. Its relative channel share stands at 19 per cent.
With a 9 per cent share of the GEC pie, NDTV Imagine is at No. 4 and has recorded 104 GRPs in the latest week. Imagine is 22 GRPs ahead of Sony, which has been on a decline mode, despite its fresh programming, and has a relative channel share of 7 per cent.
Sab TV has augmented its share by 2 percentage points in the latest week. It has garnered 66 GRPs and is just 16 GRPs behind Sony in Week 24. Its channel share stands at 6 per cent.
Star One, DD1 and Sahara One's shares are 5, 4 and 3 per cent respectively. Star Utsav and 9X have both grabbed 2 per cent share; while Real has 1 per cent.
Among the Top 10 programmes on Hindi GECs, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai rules the roosters, with the highest TVR of 5.9. Bidaai has recorded a TVR of 5.4, followed by Balika Vadhu, which garnered 5.3. Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, the most popular show on Zee TV, has recorded a TVR of 4.3.
Uttaran on Colors managed to fetch 3.5 TVR, followed by Chhoti Bahu on Zee TV, which got 3.4 TVR. The other popular shows on GECs are Jai Shri Krishna, Na Aana Is Des Laado and Betiyaan Ghar Ki Lakshmi.
