I totally understand you!! now that I see other people's opinions I sort of get that this is a show and we leave our brains behind, but at first it struck me as soo odd! I guess its just because I am studying soo hard and trying to go as high as I can personally, that this was a little weird for me!!

Guys,
This is Indian Television we are talking about...one which shows multiple and cross marriages, one which shows women having the gestation period of an elephant, one which shows reincarnations and countless plastic surgeries...YRKKH is only showing a family as being extremely old-fashioned and conservative!
Even though I find the show to be pretty regressive at times, it is still watchable for many other reasons! The makers have always shown an alternate point of view...like first Vishambhar was shown to be against Shaurya and Varsha's marriage and then he himself supports Varsha to study further and treats her equally to Akshara!
Similarly, Rajshri was shown to pressurize Akshara on behaving in a certain way, then she was shown to be more understanding and relaxed!
Also, Daadi and Omi Kaka's character are the voice of reason in the Maheshwari Household just as Rajshekhar and Mohit are the voice of reason in the Singhania House. So somewhere down the line, the makers are trying to create a balance.
Naitik does behave like a Chauvanist sometimes, but that is perhaps a part of his character...a small town boy born and brought up in a conservative family, where he is the pampered son. It would have been out of character to show him as being very open-minded and liberal! If they showed Naitik as being possessive about Akshara, they also showed him as being protective about her family's honor and hence he came all the way to stop her from coming to his home!
Just like Shaurya, who was broadminded enough to have an affair with his sister's best friend but coudln't stand a guy even talking to his own sister! Yet at the same time, he is shown as a sensitive and caring husband to Varsha and a loving brother to Akshara. These are just some facets of the characters, not their whole personality!
Overall, I think YRKKH is developing its characters nicely...we might not be able to identify with them immediately, but they are not that unrealistic as they first appear to be!

This is how I see it....Naitik does not have a prob with her going to college, but at that moment when everyone was staring at him to make a decision, he agreed with them based on what Akshara herself had said when he asked about her exams..."i dont like studying". She may have said it just like that, but then he doesnt know her that well to know that.
As far as Akshara's mom is concerned, she has been shown to be a very paranoid person who starts worrying about the smallest thing when it comes to Akshara, specially with one proposal already rejected by a boy....so she does not want anything going wrong with this proposal.

👏 that was a brilliant post Soapie...they're trying to balance everything....I never imagined that Mohit will speak in front of daddaji..i mean his own family members are so scared of him n Mohit putting forward his point of view was worth applauding...
Secondly Naitik . as u said , being over pampered n brought up in a small town but rich family , we can't expect him to be libreal and open minded...When all these years he's seen his mom and bhabhi ma live life like perfect bahus, taking care of the house and family, the kitchen etc. etc. then it's obvious he expects the same from Akshara .....Now when he marries her and gets to know her slowly, her likes and dislikes , he might try to change the traditions for her....I mean he never followed daddaji's commands right? He doesn't want to join his family business , this way he is going against daddaji but he's confident of handling him when time comes.......he'll do tht slowly for Akshara if he feels she's not happy....
But at this stage, things are different...Akshara is not yet married to Naitik and Naitik , since he loves Akshara, wud want her to follow the family traditions and do as his family pleases......If he fights for her now, they might raise questions on the rishta itself.....

for a moment he DID get scared at the thought of a guy talking to Akshara....but.... i don't know...i liked it soo much tht he's so possessive for her...but it's not possible that just for this reason he doesn't want Akshara to attend college

Completely agree to U
leaving exams in the middle to attend a rasm is stupidity
Why does the creative have to show it this way. also dadaji not letting akshara study?
probably in the next few episodes they have a message for us in it. I would be happy to see the family realise their mistake by not letting her cmplete the study thus giving a message of how girls need to study.

put evrything aside, reeti, riwaz, etc, etc -- but what about Naitik ?? He gets jealous if Akshara even talks to some guy , thats not fair , will that mean that he will stop talking to girls soon ??

all this doesn't make any sense ....i mean why did they have to bring in this twist? Rashmi is attending the same college n is it forbidden for her to talk to guys ? then daddaji suggesting "koi bhi ladka Akshara ko behka lega" ..i mean tht applies for Rashmi also, then why are they allowing her to attend college? why not send their daughters to a ladies only college if they're so scared of boys? this is like 1940s ki thinking.. or they are doing this on purpose to show that familes differentiate between their daughters and their daughter in law...😕
Well Naitik said "Akshara can study if she wants to but I think she's not interested" and daddaji said "faisla humein karna hai" .... Naitik has not taken the decision yet....n if he went to Akshara's college to ask her, that means he wants to know her opinion about it..
n he was just curious to know how that boy knows Akshara...whatz the harm in this? i mean if i see tht my husband is talking to some girl and i ask him who she is , does tht mean i'm jealous or suspicious? Akshara told Naitik that before this nobody has seen me standing alone with a guy , that's why everybody is staring at you...(When Naitik came to drop her) ......whateva...the confusion was cleared then n there..that's what matters..
