Do the makers even research about traditions?

It was neither a telugu wedding nor a bihari one.
Telugu wedding is incomplete without both parents doing kanyadan we give equal importance to mother.
Also, telugu wedding is incomplete without groom and bride putting a mixture of jaggery and jeera on each other's heads promising eachother that they would be like the mixture supporting eachother.

I don't know if forum people will defend the makers but i felt the creative team should have done proper research.
As it is telugu culture is confused with tamil culture in daily soaps. I belong to both telugu and tamil cultures and i felt the wedding a bit odd.

One more thing, only when they put talambralu,( that pouring rice on each other) bride and groom face eachother. during entire wedding they sit beside each other in front of the havan kund and perform laaj homa after the mangalsutra istied.

See it was a symbolic wedding not a real one they added few telugu culture rituals and made a wedding sequence it was not to offend any religion or culture or ceremony..Please dont get hurt by it..Not that I am defending them but they did what ever was feasable and can be comfortably shown..

even if it is symbolic wedding, its fine to not even have pheras but ignoring girl's mother in kanyadaan and completely eliminating jaggery jeera thing is so not done. In telugu culture even mangalsutra is not as important as the jaggery thing.

Well I am not aware of traditions of Telegu culture but what I can understand here is they showed basics of a wedding ie. pheras mangalsutra where people can connect to the wedding and didnt really go deep in to the details of a particular cultural style marriage..Like I said it was a symbolic wedding and lets focus on the gist of it..the hapiness the positive feel and main one..protagonists getting married -turning point of the show

Samaina,
Completely understand your sentiment. As a part Telugu, part tamilian myself I do get irritated at times too to the generic "everything down south is one" attitude.

However, I still see this show as a sincere attempt.. going beyond the caricatures others have created.

It's a small step but progress for sure.. (case in point anushka v/s Deepika in Chennai express with that stupid hindi accent)

I too wish they could have enlisted someone from Andhra in their team to bring in authenticity to the level they do for Bihari culture ( even yesterday the only ritual related dialogue was done with the sindoor daan)...

But not complaining. It's a step in the right direction. We'll get there slowly. :) They atleast attempted talambaralu rather than the first few episodes where I was wondering if they even know Telugu and Tamil are two different things..

One thing I can vouch for as a purbred 100% TamBram is that there was not even an ounce of Tamil culture in the wedding rituals which means they have already done much more research than before because initially all the telugu people on the forum were very upset about KK being called appa and not nana or nanagaru.
So I think we should give them credit for it.

As for Bihari culture obviously they ll get it right as it's Dilip Jha's baby after all.

I am extremely pleased with each and every aspect and would like to place it on record milord😆

And I really thought it was the sweetest wedding ever shown on TV!!

i am tam bram too but been in telugu state for 2 decades..it definitely has nothing from tamil weddings except for her head jewellery. But telugu part they kind of ruined is what i felt. Been to a lot of telugu weddings both brahmjn and reddy so they did not get it right.
Even appa and nanna part. Appa in telugu is used for elder sister (akka is written as appa in some parts of andhra)

I understand it's upsetting to see your culture not represented properly.
But this is a fictional show, and like a poster said the jeers jaggery thing is more important than pheras, a person from another part of india wouldn't understand that.
Viewers are from across religions and hence they'll show something everybody can understand.

Don't take any offence, makers often take creative liberties, besides if they showed all rituals then the wedding would carry on for a couple of episodes.

I understand your frustration, I also belong to a very misrepresented community. They only show my community as jazzy, eating papad and saying wadi saeen (which we don't use). But I've learnt to sit back and enjoy
