As I got dressed for the party, I had this in the back of my mind that he would be here tonight. Just a thought- mind you! Don't read too much into it. I was feeling pretty confident with myself, when I bumped into Ridhi Bhabhi wearing the same attire. Since one of us had to change, I offered. I would have settled into any outfit other than a saree. And mom had to insist on just that! Well, I am not that confident wearing saree, especially around certain people. Mention saree, and I just have this flashback of Sidhanth teasing me back in College when I fumbled around, wearing one. He had issued a bhavishyavaani back then that I would repeat the same next time wearing a saree and he would be around to laugh at me! You can imagine my nervousness. If someone says they find my situation funny, I would wish a guy like Sidhanth up on them! It is not funny, really. I am not overreacting and certainly not overanalysing. And most certainly not channelling all my attention around the existence of one man!
Sigh...
There I got ready and stepped outside. Appa gently guided me towards his friends to introduce me, all the while I could feel his eyes on me. Was he mocking at me? Did I look good? Would I dare find out! I wanted to stay miles away from Mr. Critic No:1, though I must say I would have loved it if he had something nice to say. Just like that. Don't read too much into it.
Well, Srikanth Anna dragged me to my destiny. Thankfully, no criticisms! No compliments either. Guy must have hardly noticed me, he seemed more interested in drinking to his success. Or not getting criticised itself might be a compliment. It was such a beautiful evening and the only thing he intended to give me was some barbed comment. I was out of there...
Sidhanth:
My eyes were eagerly searching for her. It is only natural. She was once my best friend. This was her house. She would be here...So... Only, I don't know why Purva had to make it so obvious. It is not like I was desperate or anything. Or Purva was just asking an innocent question.
Anyway, I am glad I was not with my mom and sister when I saw her. Anushka looked beautiful- like a fairy. O well! A thing of beauty is a joy forever. That is all. She was mesmerising...such a beautiful sight to behold...I must have admired her for a while.
I went back to the last time I had seen her in a saree and that had ended hilarious! But now...
She moved so gracefully, smiled so perfectly, as her dad introduced her to his friends. So delicate she was...like a...like a... ...Jellyfish! Thank god reality struck me before I went down that lane again.
And then Her Highness decided to mingle with her subjects, at the behest of her brother.
Was I little a nervous? Nay! It tingled my senses slightly to have the beautiful lady standing next to me- nothing more. Also, what would she have to say to me? I was only sure of myself...so sure. Why wouldn't she say something? Surely, we were not strangers.
She wouldn't have a drink with us. Of course, we were drinking to my success- why would she! I had to remind her- behakne ka haq hai humein...I did feel a little disappointed there.
Little Miss Perfect certainly would have squealed on me by now.
That was the first conversation we had this evening. I asked her if she had and she mumbled something vague, excused herself and walked away.
