I am new here...Have seen 3-4 episodes of YMMKD...

I had this doubt...what does 'gourani' mean??

gaurani means the women who aaranges marraige in villages they adresses them as gaurani whee as in cites we callled them event manager!

It is a term used in villages in Gujraat for women who fix weddings. Typically in most parts of India, especially rural India, it was either the village barber who will spread news or fix alliance or generally a woman.

It was common to pay her with a saree and sometimes money or a small jewellery.

(I guess in earlier time, it was also grain)
