Why has Maya kept this secret?

It is not in her character to be nice to anyone unless there is any benefit to her. She hates Poornima and would be really really glad if Ronit dumped her, so why does she keep this secret from Inder and his mother? This is not their child or grandchild at all.

What do you guys think?

Maya found out because when Poornima was newly married she got "sick" and the doctor told her.

I dont think she ever told anyone else in the family though.
