Rahil Azam, who used to play Ashmit in Sony's Ye Meri Life Hai, is back on the show. Not so long ago he was replaced by Raj Logani. Now, after a month-long sabbatical, Azam has started shooting again since last Wednesday. He says, "I am happy to be back on the show. I had been missing the unit. It is like a second home to me."
Azam suggests that the look and feel of his re-entry will be filmy: "There is a new dimension to my character. It is a challenge for me to perform this role. I am sure people will accept me." Rumour has it that the character will turn negative. Azam affirms, "Yes, sort of. If you have seen the last few episodes, you'd realise this anyway. But the change is primarily to gain sympathy. I will not show sudden differences in my character."
Azam took a break from the show for health reasons. The skin on his face blistered badly when he had to pass through fire while shooting for an episode of Ye Meri Life Hai. His doctors advised him to stay away from harsh lights and avoid make-up altogether for a few weeks. "I was under medication which needed about a month to take effect. But my skin started improving about ten days ago," he says.
Incidentally, Azam quit shooting on July 11. And now, precisely a month later, he is back at work. Ye Meri Life Hai viewers however will have to wait till Monday before they see him. Besides Ye Meri Life Hai, Azam has also resumed shooting for Star Plus' Sarrthi, in which he plays Karna. Meanwhile, Raj Logani was unavailable for comment.
