First, let me thank all of you who gave in their details in the earlier post. It was fun reading the details of users who have been coming in for months to read updates here. I enjoyed it. :)
This one is going to be a long post. The reason being, I'm going to start with the update of yesterday's episode. This update has been written by Priyam and I must thank her for writing it in detail. Thank you, Priyam. Here is what she had to say -
Basically what happened was that Ashmit and Pooja come to Lilavati to his mom's ward and sit with her, and Ashmit says to Pooja that he had told her that the Gujrals wouldn't come, etc (we are to assume that the sun has already set). In the meantime, they show the Gujrals at home, in a panic, complaining that they are getting late and debating whether or not they should wait for Ronit and Reema to come home and then go altogether. They get a telephone call from Reema and Ronit and the dadi tells them she has something to say to them, and R + R also say they have something to say to her, but neither party discloses any information, Ronit just says he's coming home. Maya then says that they should just go and dadi, Inder and she drive to that cliff thing and wait there for five minutes wondering where Ashmit and Pooja are. Inder suggests that perhaps they waited for them and left because they got so late. They decide to go to the hospital and we see scenes of the trio walking in the corridors of what we are made to believe is Lilavati. We also see that Ronit and Reema arrive home at the Gujral Palace, and happily call for dadi and their parents (at which point we also learn that Amit Jain a.k.a Ronit speaks very good Punjabi hahaha).
In the meantime, we are shown what is happening inside the ward - Ashmit is by his mum's side, and Pooja standing at the foot of the bed, when suddenly both of them notice that Sumitra is moving her eyes and looking around the room. Ashmit and Pooja are both overjoyed upon realising that she has regained consciousness. Just then, the camera pans up and we see the trio standing in the doorway of the ward. Pooja is so happy at this precise moment that she is more or less crying, and Ashmit's expression was a bit hard to gauge - amusement I thought it was.
Anyway, Inder comes and sits down by Sumitra's side and holds her hand in his with a very melancholic look on his face, he then asks Maya to hand him the kumkum and fills sindhoor in her maang. Whilst he is doing so, Sumitra is actually looking at him, and they have their typical "dhoom dhoom ta na na, dhoom dhoom ta na na" music playing in the background and the scene happens in slow-mo (at which point my dad got so fed up with the pace that he said "oiyee bas vi karo" in frustration hahaha). Anyway, we see Ashmit at that point, who has closed his eyes in relief and what appears to be satisfaction (hence, I was a bit confused) and Pooja too closes her eyes in what looks more like an expression of "thank-God-good-has-triumphed-over-evil".
And then just at that point too, Ronit and Reema walk into the ward (how they found out everyone was there and reached Lilavati - I have no clue)! Inder sees Ronit and turns to Sumitra and says "dekho, Ashmit ka chhota bhai aaya hai" and enrages Ronit who retorts saying that "mera koi bhai nahi hain" and storms out of the ward with Reema in tow, in a huff. Then they show us outside that Ronit tells Reema that he feels like he has been stabbed in the back because he thought that he was going to save his house, but he came here and realised that his family has joined hands with his enemy, etc. He also adds that this must be another chaal of Ashmit's, at which point we see that Pooja has overheard most of the conversation as she too came out of the ward behind them and she interrupts him and says "par tum aisa kyun sochte ho, Ronit? tum yeh kyun nahi sochte ke tumhare family mein ek aur member aa gaya...?"
She then tries to explain to him that what his dad is doing requires a lot of courage as he is accepting and trying to correct a big mistake that he made himself 25 years ago. She says that Ronit should treat Ashmit like his elder brother too. Ronit says that "main nahi maanta ke Ashmit mera bhai hai" or something and then Ashmit (who has stepped out of the ward too) interrupts and tells Pooja not to force Ronit to accept Ashmit as his brother, because Ronit is justified; he also says that it is difficult to accept someone who has not done anything to make you feel like he is your brother, as your brother. He tells Ronit to do what his heart says.
I don't remember what exactly happened at that point, but Ronit must have maro-ed one of his typical dialogues like "yeh apni bakwaas bandh karo Ashmit" because he stepped up to him and took out the cheque of Rs.25 crores which he had got from Shekhar and throws it at his face, like he said he would. He then pulls out a Rs.1 coin from his pocket and shows it to him and throws that at him too, and we hear the sound of the coin falling on the floor resound in the corridor of Lilavati. Inder Gujral then comes out of the ward too, and tried to explain to Ronit the happenings of the evening, but Ronit refuses to listen saying that he had come here to save his house, to realise that he had lost his ghar (his family). He and Reema leave.
At this point, they went for a break, and I came up to type out the message to you, which is why I missed a little bit of the next segment of the show. My dad basically told me that Ashmit had come back into the ward to talk to his mum and he says to her that he would try and "win over" Ronit and do some brotherly acts so that Ronit would accept him as his brother - and he says this very emotionally. At that point, something happens to Sumitra (we are made to believe she is dead) and we see that although Ashmit appears to be very chilled out about it, Pooja in a frenzy rushes out and calls a doctor. The doctor comes into the ward and Ashmit tells him to help his mum in a really juvenile manner and then when the doctor is just standing and listening to him, Ashmit shouts at him and tells him to do something. The doctor then checks for her heartbeat, and then her pulse and announces that he is sorry, but she is no more. Ashmit denies that this is possible and the doctor replies saying that if she was alive, the heartrate monitor would not be displaying a straight line - Ashmit says that the monitor is just a machine, it can get spoilt and stop working anytime. He says that his mum is alive, the doctor is lying. He then goes to his mother's side and tries to get a reaction from her by calling her name and when that fails, he goes to Inder Gujral in a really sheepish, desperate, childlike manner and tells him to call his mum as she will listen to him.
We see that everyone is crying, Pooja is choking her tears back, the dadi has tears streaming down her cheeks with her usual pained expression on her face and Inder Gujral too is tearing. Ashmit again tells Inder to try and awaken his mum, Inder and he both go to the head of his mom's bed and just as Ashmit thinks Inder is going to try and awaken her, Inder officially announces her dead by closing her eyes (which were previously open). We see a close up of a distraught, angered Ashmit raise his eyes towards Inder Gujral in shock from his mother's side, and the frame freezes and the show ends.

Today, Ashmit is shown asking her mom to get up. He sits down and takes Sumitra in his arms and asks her to listen to his heart beats thinking that she might get up. She doesn't. Everyone is in tears. Ashmit cannot accept what has happened, though he knows that Sumitra is dead now. Inder tries to explain him. Maya is happy for obvious reasons. Now, she does not have to worry about Mohan. She goes out and calls her brother 'Vicky' to tell him the good news. Vicky though is smarter than Maya and knows how to make a fool of her as well. He tells Maya that khatra abhi tak tala nahin hai and ppl will be sympathetic about Ashmit now and she has to start thinking about Ronit. What if Ronit would be sidelined. It seems Vicky is in London and has defaulted. So, when Maya asks her what she has to do next, he thinks that this is a good opportunity for him to escape from there and maybe earn some part from the Gujrals - he tells Maya that he is coming to India to stay with her. Maya is thrilled and asks him to come asap. Vicky tells her to act as if she's felt real bad for Sumitra's death and asks her to shed tears as well. Maya agrees and does exactly that. She comes in the room and says that Sumitra died as a Suhagan. She tells Ashmit that she will take care of him as her son and would always have Sumitra in her heart. She suggests that Sumitra ki bidaai suhagan jaisi honi chaiye.
Ashmit excuses himself and goes out saying that he had one last wish of his mom to fulfill. Pooja tags along - Ashmit is holding her hand. When Pooja asks him where they were going, Ashmit asks Pooja whether she will make her mom ready like a suhagan. Pooja with tears in her eyes agrees to it.
At Gujral House, Ronit is still thinking why Ashmit had to be treated nicely. Poornima comes in and asks Ronit what had happened. Just then, Ms. Maya comes in and asks Poornima to wear a white dress. When she asked why, Maya informs that Sumitra is dead. Ronit did not believe initially but later thinks why would he be interested. Maya with her magarmach aasoon makes Ronit believe that she has done lot of sacrifices - eventually Ronit gave up and says that he made a mistake in understanding her mom and says that from now on he'll do what she asks him to do. Maya asks him to accept Ashmit as his brother and come to the the funeral. Ronit does that as well.
At the Malhotra (why Ashmit would have this surname would be another interesting thing to know) house, Sumitra is dressed as a suhagan and everyone is very sad. When it's time to give a shoulder to life the body, Maya asks Ronit to do that. Dadi adds that all that was there - now with the death of a person has gone and Ronit should forget the earlier things. Maya acts and says that she wants to come to the smasaan even though she knows women are not allowed there. Dadi agrees that she can go - and in the next shot if you see, all the women including Maya, Dadi, Pooja, Reema are all going. Inder takes the initiative to burn the body while Ashmit with tears looks on. Inder goes near Ashmit and consoles him. On seeing this, Reema tells Ronit that even though he managed to save the makaan, he could not save his ghar. The episode ends.
Do you think Maya still has a reason to worry about Mohan even after knowing that Sumitra is dead now? Vicky wants to come in - what other plans can he have? It is difficult for Ronit to accept Ashmit as his brother - will Ashmit try hard to make sure everyone likes him? Where were Pooja's parents when Sumitra was being taken away for the last ritual? Won't Pooja explain Ronit about Ashmit? How much more time before things will be fine with everyone? Let everyone know your views.
