Sujata Mehta or Krutika Desai?

I started watching Yeh meri life hai from the episode when Ronit marries Poornima. Recently read that Sujata Mehta was playing Maya Gujral before and she was replaced by Krutika Desai. Is it true? Anyone knows the reason for her exit?
