Wow. good to see a nan katai baker here.

i have the habit of leaving the stove on with the tawa on it. I don't know how many times my mom has scolded me for my forgetfulness. the same happens with my father too. he always burns his fenugreek tea. So i guess it runs in the family 😆

Sangam Sweets Cookie - Nankhatai 250 g

I ate this kind of nankhatai.

But in the serial those looked more like normal chocolate chip cookies than nankhatai. I can't cook , tried but baking is impossible for me.🤪But I am a foodie. Nankhatai has a dusty flavor and it is very white as far as I know. As far as I can remember at my home I saw lots of butter are used to make it. But still it tasted dry. But Roshni's one was not like the one I had at my home. Those looked more like this pic. Are Roshni's one nanakhatai too? I mean are chocolate chip cookie and nanakhatai same?

From being an absolute novice in kitchen , I am a fairly decent cook now. Truth be told my husband cooks better than me , while I make the excuse that 5 years of medical school was taxing enough😆.

My most decent dishes are - biriyani, a kind of curry we make with lady's finger and curd down south known as vendakka pachadi, chicken curry. All others can do with improvement.

I am pathetic at baking but am blessed with sister-in - laws who are top notch at both cooking and baking. I compensate by doing the cleaning jobs at home.

Cool topic btw.

Vendakka pachadi... Are you a malayalee?

Even my husband cooked better(i think it was more a case of being a confident cook, as he lived away from his family for a few years) when we started off. Even now I prefer him cooking the time consuming dishes like gobi manjurian, chilly chicken etc. I hate standing by the stove to fry things 😉

I never had pretty hair going by conventional standard but at least I was content with it but now, I am almost takli. No, believe me, I really am. The heavy medication and this health condition has consumed all my hair. I can't tell you how horrible it is. 🤢

Yep , Malayalee to the fingertip.

Recently found a solution for the frying issue. Invested in an air fryer. Less oil, less hassle and healthy food.

Indu - This is an awesome thread and concept to share.

Wanted to post here since start, but was thinking what do I post? Cos I have had so many experiences.

Loved to read everyone's experiences from fun, to good, scary and different.

Talking about my experience, well so I was baking a cake in the oven. It's a standard for cake to pierce a toothpick or a pointed stick to check if it's not raw from inside, it needs to come out clean.

But mistake I did, is I checked it before 15 minutes. Like you need to maybe check in last 8 minutes or as per experience you will know.

So obviously cake was raw so toothpick didn't come clean, but worst part was since I did so early I punctured the cake and it fully deflated. So baked it well and it tasted good but looked totally weird. Quite a learning and fun.
