I hate to add more negativity here. But consider the following points.
1. Arjun made too many promises but forgot three major ones
a. Always standing by Poorvi's side for the rest of his life (and no, being legally married to one woman but mentally being with another doesn't count. If he was scared for her life, then he could have blocked the shooter's target. He is much taller and bigger than Poorvi. I bet Poorvi would have blocked the shooter if the role were reversed.)
b. Always protecting her respect, honour and dignity (announcing in front of all his family and his now wife's family that he slept with her is not how you protect your so-called love. What was just a rumour until now, is a confirmed public humiliation and dishonour thanks to Arjun. For that alone he deserves to suffer)
c. Always treat her family as his own (really? I seem to recall that Arjun's mom mentioning that his dad arranged to have her mom killed but almost killed her dad instead. And Arjun's reaction? To daddy dearest, "Daddy, I will do as you say. Just get well soon." To daddy-in-law, "You have to give money to my daddy so that he can continue to ruin more lives." I doubt if Poorvi's family had almost killed his dad, he would have the same reaction.)
Funnily enough he continues to make more promises. If I were him, I'd make only one promise to myself, to never make another promise. His promises are not worth the breath wasted on them.
Now let me show you how a true promise is made and kept. The kind you can bank on.
Poorvi's promise #1: I will always be by your side (she went against her family, society, her own belief, even her reputation to keep this promise and her suffering just got started)
Poorvi's promise #2: I will always protect you (she defended Arjun until her mouth bled to her family, his family and anyone or everyone who doubted him. She did not give up under any emotional blackmail and yes, she faced it too when her mother said don't go anywhere, don't talk about Arjun because your father needs you. Her response? You have to accept me with Arjun. I will not give him up at any cost)
Poorvi's promise #3: I will always believe in you (she knew that her marriage was not valid anywhere, but Arjun said it was, so she gave her all believing in him. There is no bigger belief than that and no bigger surrender)
Look at Nisha. She is also stuck in a forced marriage but all she wants is revenge and I bet she will continue to fight until she destroys Watan. She does not want to interfere in Lakhsha's life nor want to lower his dignity or pride by sending a consolation prize friend. She wants him to truly fall in love where her life does not taint his future.
But Arjun is not like Nisha. He could have plotted revenge against his own family and Bhanu Pratap on behalf of Poorvi. But oo ka kehte hain? Usme guts nehin hain...
So pardon me if I think regardless of what cvs tried to show, Arjun's love is as fake and filmy as his promises... Not worth mentioning nor remembering.
