Sameena, I think it is either the fans are very young to know what the etiquettes for the brides were in '94 or earlier or people are too dedicated to the leads to see their shortcomings. I have never seen a 90s bride jump up and down ever in her Susural on the 1st day of marriage, either on the bed or anywhere else in the entire decade. Whether you were 16 or 20, regardless of age, DIL were treated like DIL, never like daughters. There were certain rules laid down for the brides which most of the brides adhered to and even their own Maika expected them to be bound by. My views about Naina are solely based on what it used to be in the 90s. Even when she is coming from such a conservative family, she is breaking those rules which is not realistic to me. By the responses I am seeing, I am guessing it is ok to jump or run for the new bride at present times.

In the 90s as a rebel as I was, I used to get so mad seeing brides all decked up and motionless and grooms having fun and joking around with their friends & family. I used to question why rules were so different for the guys. People held too much expectations from the bride and were quick to criticize them. What was showed yesterday did not match the bridal etiquettes of the 90s - that's all. You cannot make period drama and not be true to the period.

Naina in Sameers room -- she could have avoided that, agreed..

But jumping on bed is ok ...
I mean even b4 she came up..our trio samundit where sleeping on bed b4 jumping...judging the people by just looking at the bed s evil thought...

Instead of bedroom if it was a garden no one will question them like this...

it's like if u get into bedroom u have only that intention and nothing else...

this scene just says how the 90s aunties thought about young couple..

This s not the first time it's happening in the show, earlier Mami used to do the same with poo Bhabhi even after many months of marriage..

Yes, exactly those aunties didn't think for one sec before Judging naina and her character. It was so much of venom in their talk. Why, they didn't have any daughters? There is a saying women are women's worst enemies. They just proved it in that situation.

Shilpa, I can't help laughing out loud right now. I have also not seen a bride behave as Naina does. Let alone in the 90s, even today if a bride behaved as Naina had done, people would not tolerate it and she would be a laughingstock. Fans may be very young and thus find this funny, but acceptable, I don't know. I think I'm going to carry out an experiment with some young children and see their response.
I know of a girl who got married at 16 in 1990. A month before her brother in law got married to a girl who was 25. The in laws and her own family made no difference between the 16 year old and the 25 year old. They expected and demanded the same behaviour from both. She quickly grew up.

I keep wondering what fans would say if this was the daughter in law in the Agarwal house. What would have happened if she did all the things Naina is doing?

I too rebel against the decking out of brides and the eyes down, demure act that has to be put on. I asked my mother if she expected me to lie everytime a boy came to "see" me. She had no answer. A friend who also could not handle this act, took a book with her to the mandap. She sat reading the book under the gungat throughout the ceremony. When someone noticed and asked what she was reading, she said she was following what the pandit was saying. Everyone was very impressed.

As for this being a period piece, I think they have begun to throw that out the window. Except for constantly citing technological changes they have stopped linking the period correctly. In the old episodes they showed the link to news events of the time such as Rajeev Gandhi's death etc. They no longer do that. I think the writers are now taking the easy road out and simply citing the internet and phones as if these are the only things that have changed. Un dino and In dino don't seem different anymore.
