Just like in Hindus u have these Janis and Varnas or whatever we name them.. even in us muslims we have these sub castes like sheikhs khans qureshis and so on..
And even today these castes matter a lot while marrying,..
Though this divide and differentiating is man made nothing as such is mentioned in the religion..

It still doesn't satisfy a family if they are Muslims only..

The jaat paat sometimes plays a very big role.

Especially if the family is orthodox or uptight about certain issues.

I am in fact open to even inter religion marriages but our families are too orthodox and have unnecessary filters

Discrimination is a scourge in society. Many problems in society and the world would be solved if we accept that the human race has humanity that binds it and if we could love simply as humans. Race, religion, gender, caste, creed, clan should not be causes for disharmony and disunity.

When this whole caste thing came up in jul, we had a post where someone had explained in detail abt Maheshwari and Agarwal

Really, making such a big deal out of it 😡

there are 4 type of castes
Brahmin
chatriryas
vaishya
shudras


Baniyas fall in Vaishya

yes it was very much prevalent in Mumbai too...though our family is liberal in every matter but caste does matter...it was very much during 90s and even exists now.
