Fairytale - Truth or a Lie

It was a lazy Sunday evening . The family of three were seated on the chairs in the garden. Naina took sips of her piping hot tea as the cool wind blew over her. It was a perfect evening. Stress free, seated in the garden with cool winds breezing over her, watching her small little world in front of her. Sameer' eyes showed multitude of expressions as he was narrating a story to their bundle of joy sitting on his lap. Her pleasant laughters echoed in Naina's ears. "Aur.." she asked. "Aur phir fairy ne usse hamesha ke liye ek princess bana diya. The end." Hamsika clapped her hands as the story got complete and Sameer hugged his daughter, planting a kiss on her forehead.

But Hamsika had a confused look on her face. "Mumma kya fairies such mein hote hai." "Nahi beta, fairies toh sirf kahanio mein hote hai, real life mein nahi." "Papa kya mumma such bol rahi hai, fairies real nahi hote." Now she turned to her father for confirmation. "Hmm nahi fairies hote hai aur ek secret batau", Sameer said in a low voice. "Kaise secret?" Hamsika asked with curiosity. "Papa ne na ek fairy ko dekha bhi hai", Sameer told his daughter. "Sameer yeh kya seekha rahe ho Hamsika ko, beta papa tumse jhoot bol rahe hai, fairies nahi hota." "Hote hai." Sameer argued. "Nahi hote." Naina argued back. "Hote hain." "Nahi hote". "Maine kaha na hote hain". "Maine kaha na nahi hote, matlab nahi hote, bass", Naina said crossing her arms over her chest. "Stoppp.." ,Hamsika shouted frustrated with her mom and dad's quarrel. "Mumma papa app dono na decide karlo hote hai ya nahi." "Hamsika papa keh rahe haina hote hai, mumma ko kuch nahi pata. Maine kaha na maine real life mein ek fairy dekhi hain." "Accha kab? Zara humme bhi bato kab aur kaise?" Naina questioned him with a 'now let me see what stories you cook up' kind of expression. But Sameer was determined.

"Toh suna. Once upon a time." "Uffo papa once upon a time roh sirf books mein hote hai, real life mein nahi." "Achha toh phir ek aur baar try karta hoon. Yeh 15 saal pehle ki baat hai. Ek din mein kuch bad boys ka peecha kar raha tha. Papa bohot gussa mein the." "Bilkul movie heroes ki tarah." "Correct. Aur phir pata hai kya hua. Main dod raha tha un bad boys ke peeche aur achanak se mere samne ek sundar si fairy aa gayi. Aur main bas uss fairy ko dekhta he rah gaya. Uske aakhen mote mote, aur sundar the." "Ek dum mumma ki tarah". "Correct. Woh fairy bhi mujhe dekhti rahi par mujhe un bad boys ko sabak seekhana tha, toh maine fairy ko mudhkar dekha aur un bad boys ke peeche chala gaya." "Uffo papa apne toh bad boys ki chakar mein fairy ko chod de. Apko fairy ko apne saath ghar le jana chahiye tha na." Hamsika said hitting her forehead. Sameer leaned towards Naina and whispered "agar uss fairy ko main tab ghar le jata toh aaj shayad Hamsika 6-7 saal badi hoti." Naina slightly hit him on his arms and he grinned profusely.

"Papa aap mumma ko kya bata rahe ho." "Kuch nahi beta". "Uske baad apne kabhi bhi uss fairy se mila?" "Haan mila tha na. Uss fairy se roz milta tha. Kabhi classroom mein, kabhi play ground mein toh kabhi library mein. Library se yaad aaya, sirf faries nahi villains bhi real hote hai. Hummare library mein ek villain rehta tha joh uss fairy ko kabhi bhi mujhse mile nahi deta. Par phir bhi koi bhi mujhe aur uss fairy ko milne se rok nahi paye. Fairy ne padhne mein meri help ki, mere liye sweater banayi, mere bohot kayal rakhi aur khoob sara pyaar diya par.." "par? Phir kya hua". "Papa ne ek bohot badi galti kardi, uss fairy ka dil dukha diya toh fairy mujhse naraz ho gayi." "phir?.." Hamsika who was laying her back agaisnt the chair, sat upright. "Phir maine uss fairy ko sacche dil se sorry bola toh woh man gayi aur phirse hum dost ban gaye. Bohot bohot achhe dost. Aur woh meri bohot close ho gayi." "Munna Pandit uncle ki tarah." "Hmm usse bhi zyaada close. Phir uss fairy ne hamesha mera saath diya, mujhe akela nahi choda, aur mujhe iss duniya ki saari khushiyan de di. The end." "Par ab woh fairy kaha hai aur uss fairy ka naam toh apne bataya he nahi". "Fairy toh yahi hai, humare saath aur uss fairy na naam hai... Naina." "Yeh toh mumma ka naam hai, maine toh fairy ka naam poocha tha." "Tumhari mumma he woh fairy hain." "Kya!!.. mumma apne myjhe kabhi bataya nahi. Par mumma fairy kaise ho sakti hai, unke haath mein toh magical wand ya magical powers nahi hain." "Uss tarah ke fairies toh sirf stories mein hote hai aur real life ki fairies ke paas magical power nahi magical heart hota hai, jisme bohooottt saara pyaar hota hai." "Hamsika", she heard her friends call for her, gesturing her to join them to play. "Mumma kya main khelne jao?" "Jao par sambhal ke ok.." "ok" Hamsika ran to her friends. She couldn't wait to tell them that her mother was a fairy.

Sameer shifted closer to Naina. "Toh man gayi na ki fairies real hote hai." Naina laid her head over his chest. "Mujhe se itna pyaar kyu karte ho Sameer?" "Pyaar karna toh tumne he sikhaya tha na meri pyaari fairy..." " I love you Sameer". "I love you too Naina." Naina hugged him tightly and enjoyed the rest of the evening in Sameer's arms.
