The first time I read the term fair weather friend was when I was reading "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus by John Gray. So, what does this mean? A fair-weather friend is someone who cannot be relied. He or she will not stand by you.
When Sameer was living with his mom and his step family , he was at his worst. Even when he came back , he was embroiled in the aftermaths of his Delhi stay. At that time Naina stood by Sameer . Even when time and again she was rejected by him, she understood her Sameer and knew what his problem was .
Delhi track was not enjoyable. When I saw him with those boys watching B grade movies, smoking and drinking ,it wasn't easy for me. I hated, it thinking that there is a girl who is eagerly waiting for him. And then when she landed at Delhi he had avoided her and got into a shell. She was so curious to know why he was behaving that and wanted to put some sense into his head. She even went to his house in disguise and got thrown out of his house by his mami. He never uttered a word to support her then. Towards the end when she lost hope , she wanted to get some reaction out of him, and took a cigrete to smoke...that did it. Their reconciliation was faster than we thought. But the fact is she proved that she was not his fair-weather Friend.
Now Naina is going thru the worst phase of her life. Should he let her suffer, be humiliated , harassed and manhandled publicly because she had decided to break their relationship?? I don't think so. For me , as a woman , I find this track much more painful to watch than the Delhi track .
Her frustration and anger, of not being in her control of her life is so obvious. But what is worse is her fear of loosing her only provider , that is her chacha ji. She has been relying on him and his wife from the time she can remember. She also knows his affection is because she behaves perfect. She hides her imperfections. The only person who knows her imperfections and her naughty side is her Sameer. Her best friend, love of her life. He is someone who blessed her with lots of selfless affection.
But when she was upset and is low what did she do to him ?? She blamed him , shouted at him , decided to break away from her only chance of selfless love in life. Why ?? Just for her chacha ji!! Does she not trust herself or their love ?? Does she not trust Sameer to stand by her ?? NO SHE DOESN'T. SHE NEEDS TO LEARN TO TRUST HERSELF AND SAMEER. How can she gain that trust? Does she fear that he is going to be like her spineless brother? She knows it in her heart Sameer isn't that kind. But after what she saw her brother had done , she needed validation.
Yesterday , this man of her's stood by her in front of the world . Protecting her from being Harassed by the spineless male chauvinist suiter that her family had found for her. He not only protected her , but also gave him back on her behalf. He never had any grudge in his mind of what she had done to him. He just stood by her . Here Sameer proved it to her that he is not a fair weather friend.
( NOTE : Between couples there might be issues but when a man sees his lady being humiliated , then the righteous man will forget all the differences between them and protect her honor with his life. That is exactly what Sameer did.)
The validation she needed was got . Now she needs to support Sameer and tell the world that he was right in hitting Sharad...but will she ?? I don't know...we have to see.
Even if she did confess to chacha ji , I don't want reconciliation to happen that soon , reason being Naina still has some issues that she needs to solve. She needs to show some confidence to speak to her family. She needs to be strong in front of her family and tell them that she is not a puppet.
And also Sameer has the right to see his woman showering affection on him. He has also been suffering along with her. So , its his right to get that affection and respect from her ( with interest ;-))
Till she is able to stand up for herself, Sameer shouldn't reconcile because this journey of standing up for oneself has to be done by her ...and alone. No one can help her ...not even her Sameer.
She needs to learn to come out of the cocoon that her chacha ji has set for her . She needs to have her own opinion when it comes to her life. She is not a kid anymore . She is grown up and its high time she spread her wings and get ready for her flight with her man.
Both have now gone thru their own set of growing up and facing their own fears. They did have their own set of learning and some lessons.. they are yet to learn...but what we need to understand from Delhi track and this one is that Naina and Sameer are not Fair-Weather friends. They stood by each other during the troubled phases of their life.
Let us rejoice on the fact that the flame of love is still burning with in them. All it needs is the right amount of wind to ignite it further so that the world will get to see the light of their love.
