At that time intercaste marriages used to be a big thing. And mostly couples used to elope and get married. Very few parents used to agree to love marriage.

Very true...It was only way for lovers to elope and get married ...But at what cost...U were disowned by your family and if e anything wrong happened with you then no one would be your supporter...

They still follow such strict traditions in some parts India yaar...That's why "Honour Killing " is still here right...

Agree. Society is changing. But we cant ignore the fact that there are also people who would never change their mindset. Some people are so adamant that for their so called izzat would even kill their own blood. I remember reading a book on honour killing by one reporter. Cant explain how bad i felt after reading it.

See I am 40 and my mom is 62 ...We both live the show...And she is like 24*7 watching only YUDKBH ...

After Shejun my mom called and said that she is angry at arjun😡 .. he is a coward and didn't accept shefali ... So I calmed her down saying that mom what do you expect of a 19 year old boy who is so pressurised by his family... And he was always Passive person...

But she kept contradicting me... So I just asked her..Would she and papa had permitted me and my sis to marry someone we loved at 19 .😆..She said she would have killed us... Lol...

Now after yesterday episode she was like why Naina and Sameer had to be apart...They are so truly in love with each other ...And this time I was again playing role to explain her..
🤣

So my point is ..This is how society change... May be I will be more open minded with my kids.. people change with time..

These days most of kids are educated , career councious ...They even live in different cities pursuing their studies and career ... And after that if they decide they have chosen someone parents just agree ...I would even say kids today are more observant and considerate ...

Cant agree more, with passing time mindset changes. Though we may have a minority who still lives in the past, but for the majority, they will be ready to absorb the changes and thats how we say our society is progressing right.

The pioneers are today's parents itself, coz kal ke bachche aaj ke parents hai... they've seen it around them, if not gone through it... They understood that opposing your kids ain't gonna stop them, you will loose them... They've see how lovers eloped, struggled and also the repercussions faced by both lovers and their families...
They are wise enough to talk and explain and listen to their child...
And when family stands by their kids no one can dare to point a finger at them...
Today's parents understand marriages cannot be forced, because many of them might have lived a loveless, pretentious, shallow married life and no parent would want their child to face the hardships they faced.

If you still want to know ...There was movie in 90's ..."Sleeping with the Enemy"... Many indian movies copied that theme... ""Agnipariksha"" and "Darar "".. may be that changed the concept of loveless marriage ...Just a thought😆
