This post is just a reflection of the questions plaguing my mind.
Arjun was introduced to as Naina's brother and the first scene of him was helping an old lady down the bus and him almost dropping the trophy, for which he gets scolded by Rakesh. Right from the beginning, Arjun has been shown as a person who follows what is father says and the fear he has of Rakesh is also shown. At the same time, he respects his father and wants to fulfill his dreams. His relationship with Naina has always been caring and sweet. He promises to buy her shoes when she loses hers and consoles her when she was punished for the same. Till now, Arjun's character reflects of him being kind and caring only.
Then the paper stealing incident happened, he was put under a lot of pressure to win by Rakesh and he resorted to this. He had lost confidence in himself by then.Later on, he is feeling guilty about what he has done and he isn't completely happy about winning the competition.I am not saying what he did was right but just trying to understand his mindset. Yet at the same time, he is unable to come out and tell the truth even when he is confronted by Naina as he is afraid once again of his father's reaction.
The fear of his father makes him a coward.
The way he reacted towards Sameer when he came to know of the bet was the actions of a brother only.
When he is able to walk again, he doesn't tell about it to anyone and for me this where Arjun's character completely turns. He was completely frustrated that he couldn't play cricket and because of that he didn't even watch cricket. The scene where he starts throwing his bat showed his pain of being in a wheelchair and the fear of never being able to play again, yet when he is able to walk, he lies about it and once again falsely accuses Sameer and he never once showed an ounce of guilt for doing that. And again during the cricket match, he doesn't want Sameer to win but wants his help later on to win and he never even apologies for the same.
Sameer has time and again helped him and never given Arjun an actual reason to dislike him, yet Arjun doesn't want Naina to be with Sameer.
And lastly , in yesterday's episode he need not have accepted that he loved Shefali, he could have come up with any story to justify them both being together in a car, yet he kept mum and blamed everthing on Shefali.
Somehow for me, the character of Arjun during the progress of the story completely turned from a guy who was caring to all yet a coward when it comes to his father turned into a completely spineless and selfish person. At the end, he was not true to anything and anyone.
Sorry for the long post but the character of Arjun didn't impress me in the beginning but at the same time he didn't seem to be a guy you hate but now thats what he has turned into and I am unable to fathom why. At the end I wonder if Arjun has any redeeming quality at all, it makes me wonder if he can even be caring or kind anymore ?
