This post is a response to all the viewers who loved the Id Overdrive of Sameer and who didn't like the 'loss of gentleman class''.

Well,Its was all a PERFORMANCE.How could we have known if he was blown away by the song and the scenes.Drama calls for action.

Thalia Goldstein believes to understand the work that goes into acting and what it means to convincingly portray another person onstage. She finds it helpful to first distinguish what acting is from what it isn't, and then determine the processes involved in performing.

Goldstein looks at three categories: pretense, lying, and actingas they fit into a trio of cognitive parameters. First, what is being presented perceptually and if it is actually happening or is just pretend; second, what behavior is being shown and whether that behavior is a cue to reality; and finally, whether the exhibited behavior is intended to fool the audience. On the first parameter, Goldstein says, all three categories are in agreement. In the cases of pretense, lying, and acting, "what is being presented perceptually, what we're seeing, is not real.

So all the views about Sameer falling prey to the hormonal overdrive and Sameer losing class due to such an open display of emotions are right at their own places. The display of emotions called for dramatic significance and we also know it's not that real in real life for gentlemen like Sameer.

This is strictly my POV.😳

Great post Minu... 😳

Personally I didn't see anything wrong in the way those boys behaved... The song in question is erotic enough to arouse the hidden emotions in public seeing it on such a large screen... It would not be wrong to say that the song choreography and lyrics were done in a way that it generated this reaction from the audience.

Censor Board had even asked to delete the entire mukhda on this song before the film release citing the lyrics and Madhuri's body movements. But the choreographer Saroj Khan had convinced them or rather convinced a female member of the censor board. That particular female member was wearing heels and Saroj Khan asked her to walk, when she did Saroj explained how her hips swayed exaggeratedly because she was trying to balance herself on high heels... Similarly when dancing Madhuri had to exaggerate certain body movements to highlight the lyrics, especially "dhak dhak karne laga"

We could say that same way, public, men and women alike, while watching that song being performed had connected, and felt the lyrics which is an achievement for the dancer and entire cast, and that is reflected in the awards this song won.

Teenagers watching this song will have expressions on their face... I would like to see one person who can watch this entire song with a complete poker face. Maybe, certain expressions were exaggerated, but that was to connect us audience to the mental state of those teenagers...

Again, just like Minu this is entirely my POV... and I am glad that CVs didn't step back in showing this hormonal urge in boys... It's natural reaction and there is nothing to be ashamed of it or any reason to feel embarrassed while watching it. 😳

A gentleman in outer world would be of no use if he doesn't have a side that is "just purely male"... 😉

I completely agree with this Mou.Why we girls always judge.Infact my husband had told me the exact reason why boys are unable to share there inner talks with girls friends & wives.Fear of being judged like this.Hats off they showed that yesterday. In fact men think very differentky thn women.& tell me that do girls not drool on actors & celebrities.

Am glad that they had to showcase the hormonal urges of the boys in the show. Especially sameer since him being a teenager and being immune to certain obvious situations at his age wasn't sitting right with me. And since it is a fictional show you cannot expect the expressions to be real, there would be some drama to accentuate the moment so that the audience get a hang over the subject.
As far as the song goes, it was quite a rage in the early nineties. I remember being just about a toddler when it has released. Dancing on it too was considered scandalous given the sensuous moves of Madhuri. Impact it still makes me blush, so back then it was quite a big thing. And moreover the expressions the boys have yesterday felt real, their eyes were popping out of their sockets while they drooled and blushes, I don't see anything wrong in that. Infact if you compare them with today's teenagers then their response is quite delayed given today's 13 yr olds would have better reactions to give for such a song.

I loved the fact that the issue was addressed since we need progression in their story. After all of all these things are not shown how else would the kids outgrow their puppylove and transition into something more practical. And for those who are complaining well guys then the entire chapter on reproduction in school shouldn't be taught. And here some people are crusading for sex education in schools in India.

Just my two pence

Superb post dear
Their was nothing wring in Sameer's reaction to that very song
It was very much normal and natural for a youth to feel such way ..
All this is building to their progression in relationship
They have move ahead of handhold
Madhuri ke moves dekhke kisika bhi dil dhak dhak Karne lagega
Its wrong to judge Sameer on this basis

Great Post Minu...👏
To be frank, I really liked the way CVs handled the concept. Had it been shown in some unconventional way of boys not reacting to such a sensuous song, then I would have got disappointed.
Infact I was keen to see girls reaction as well, after all the song calls for it. So I remember reading Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus where the content was centered around basic emotional, psychological and behavioral differences between the sexes. Unsurprisingly, this difference is obvious not only in day to day life but also in the hormonal urges too. May be that is why the show makers made the girls respond as if oblivious to the impact of the song.

Even then, I am damn sure everyone: male or female must have gone through this situation and there is nothing to be embarrassed as this is perfectly human.I would disagree when people say a gentleman would not have behaved so, hmmm...may once the guy has got matured he may try to hide his emotions but here we are talking about a 19 year old boy, so judging him would be so mean and then how could we call ourself a progressive society when our thoughts are so conservative.

It was high time Samaina romance also progressed beyond and in a way this emotion of Sameer will become an eye opener for Naina eventually.

Again, all the words stated above is my POV.😊

Dhak Dhak dance ka move hi tha tharki toh reaction kaise graceful hoga? Lekin jab Naina ne haath chhura lia tab hosh mein aa jana chahiye tha bande ko. Josh main hosh kho dia tha bechara. 😆 Ab Naina ne jo deadly smile dia, bhagwan hi bachae Sam ko.😆

Same like the kids in the show , my friend and I bunked college to watch this movie ...
Our faces turned red watching the song ...and their were continuous whistles in the theatre...some ppl even going to the extent of throwing coins on the screen

There was a couple next to us , and I vividly remember he was actually behaving the same way Samundit did...

That was the effect this song and another song in the barnyard had
