This show has brought back so many memories for most of us who have grown up in 90s. But the current story line of preparing for dance competition in a group and giving some impromptu performance has made me feel overly nostalgic again ( I have had such feeling with lots of other tracks too). I thought may be sharing it here would make me feel better... So here I go...
As a kid and teenager I had participated in n number of group, duet and solo dance competitions and won many of those. For duet and solo it is still easy but group dances use to be different.. first getting a group of 6-8 girls of similar age group who are good dancers use to be a challenge. Once you have formed the group finalizing the song and practice time which suits everyone use to a task...
Most often than not I use to be the group leader cum dance master..
So had to be strict like Kamya.. No water untill we get these steps right.. breaks use to be timed.. 2 mins starts now...šŸ˜†

Once the performance is ready comes another task of deciding the costume and sponsors for it... If all participants are asked to pay, half of them would not turn up..

On the day of performance ensuring everyone reaches the venue on time and ensuring everyone is dressed perfectly... Than ensuring everyone is hiding in the makeup room till the performance, so that no one can copy our makeup detailing... Or guess which song or dance form we are performing...

Until the performance was done I use to be like a strict teacher and people use to hate me for that... But once performance was done, I use to be back to my fun loving self... Than celebrations on winning or calling names on loosing... The judge was baised cause she/he knew that group... Etc etc...

Miss those days...

On impromptu performance, I remember one incident where my childhood friend and I performed in a group.. it was her cousin's wedding.. there was some remix of sholay had come ( don't recall what exactly it was) which had few sholay dialogues and songs. They had prepared a performance on that but last minute one of the girl backed out for some reason. She asked me to take over. She said we have to be in background dancing most of the time and had to perform just one stanza in front.. so I just have to copy her.. it was a famous song in those days, so I knew the wording and beats.. so we went on stage... For the part where we had to be in background, i kept copying her perfectly... Now when we had to perform in front, I had to copy her step but go towards my dance partner who was standing on right but instead I followed her went towards left where her partner was standing... I was behind her so she couldn't see me, but look on her partner face was so funny.. I would say I was smarter than Naina and ran faster towards right to reach my partner on time and cover up.. his face was also worth a laugh...

Aaj bhi uss din ko yaad karke bahut haste hai...

Please share any memories you have...

Thank you for sharing your story. There are many instances but the most that it touched was learning life lessons hard way. I had mentioned about the same on one of the posts. It turned out to exactly on the similar line. You come out of school and protection goes away.. How you deal with situations, people and move on is a learning journey. How symbolic it is shown in the serial.
